@Vortex155: Weren't you the one that recorded the Bota show in 2009? I never got hold of it cause I'm not at motortrades… is it possible to upload it to dropbox too in some way? I've been there and I'd be glad to relive the show
Why do you say they didn't plan it? Bent had his Fender guitar amp there from the beginning, and that was the only song they played with two guitars, so actually I was expecting it from the very beginning… and I'm so glad they played it, majestic!
This was my only Unicorn-show, so I can't really compare (haven't listened to any of the recordings), but the live Unicorn is definitely a groovy, headbanging, psychedelic, loud stoner mammoth. I actually enojoyed the "new", downtuned version of Mutiny!. Did anyone else notice the slight change of rhythm during the final part of Sharks? Kinda threw me off-balance, but nothing major. Personal highlights were the Hollow Lands and Into The Mystic. Taifun, of course. And the very ambient-driven version of All Is Loneliness, maybe my favourite of those I've witnessed.

I got goosebumps just from watching the rehearsal/soundcheck… can't wait until this one pops up on dime. Or even… Roadworks Vol. 5 ftw.
Not quite sure why they use that tuning to play it, it can easily be played in D standard. Maybe it's because they have other songs in that tuning (thinking of Serpentine and S.T.G.) and they didn't want a guitar especially for that song, or because the fingering is easier for Bent to use… But there's a really good tab for Vortex Surfer on the site, it's this one.
Does anyone know what tunings Bent used on his Longhorn guitar on Un Chien D'Espace and Loneliness on the recent tours (2008 & 2010)? I'm not so familiar with baritone guitars, but the tunings shown with the lyrics can't be very comfortable to play on a baritone, no…?
Actually, Starhammer might be in Standard D, but that's along the big lines of how he plays it:
-11–7–14~–14-16-14—16—14—9-
-8—4–11~–11-13-11—13—11—6-
I sometimes play it an octave lower, i'm not too sure about his playing. But you get the idea.
/12~-12~
/12~-12~
-2-2
7—2-2—x-2–/12~-12~—2-2
7—2-2
0h2p02~–-2-2
7—2-2—x-2
2-2
7—2-2—0h2p02~
-0-0—0-5—0-0—x-0
0-0—0-5—0-0
Sometimes he plays the trillers (0h2p02~) an octave higher (making it 12h14h12h14~), and sometimes he plays the last parts of the riff 3 times instead of twice (listen to it, you'll know what I mean, the trillers keep going to the 3rd string… too lazy to figure out the structure ). Then sometimes there's this:
-2-2
7—2-2
-2-2
7—2-2
-0-0—0-5—0-0—3~-4~-5~-
This isn't all very clear, and surely not accurate, but at least it's something now someone tab me Year Zero, pwease?
Edit: Oh yeah, copy this into a .txt file to read it properly
And I'm pretty sure that LLM is in the same tuning as Sinful, Windborne, making it E B D# G# B D# (since he used the same guitar for both tunes, same for Alchemyst).
Edit2: I accidentally tabbed the first riff for standard E and the rest for standard D, and corrected it now. Now I'm pretty sure though now that he plays it an octave lower. Or you could just play it in drop D or whatnot…
Hello there, and welcome
I might be wrong, but I'm pretty sure that they use standard tuning on most of the songs, at least on Starhammer. Gullible's Travails is in an alternative tuning, my guess would be DGDGAD. But over the years they've used a myriad of different tunings, some being pretty weird
i didn't get it
Didn't we determine that Bombproof was indeed the Leipzig version? (don't have my copy yet, been listening to the rip…)
My 2 cents: Bombproof is KILLER. The moment the drums enter… shivers. Think I've heard better versions of Loneliness, but this is still awesome (All is Awesomeness), groovy as hell, beautiful fade out. Wishing Well, absolutely beautiful, one of the best solos I've ever heard (SNAHISGOD), nice surprise since I've never got into the studio version. Landslide, nice break in between, but actually so much more, lovely melodies and bass playing. KDH and Alchemyst: biggest surprise of this Roadwork. Especially Alchemyst was always one of the less interesting tracks of the Kenneth era. But here… KDH, dirtier and groovier than on BH/BC with an awesome noise part. And Alchemyst, my god, what a climax. What a groove, what a tight playing.
All in all my favourite output of the Kenneth era so far. Would love to see what comes next
ever thought about the bombproof rolls they've performed with supersilent, last autumn if i'm not mistaken? i haven't attended those shows, but i remember seeing a video of tihs song… that's what would make the "special feature" of this performance. and holy shit, 18 minutes of loneliness? i think we need to invent a new word to capture the awesomeness of this
sunship and hogwash for kill devil hills and alchemyst? pweeeease?
(anyways, i mistrust any setlist until i'm holding it in my hands.)
so irritating to see the momentary price next to it i'll keep a close watch on this one, thanks.
At http://www.dimeadozen.org/, just look for motorpsycho torrents
edit: pretty funny, 6 new leecher, what a coincidence
The DVD is up on dime, i was wondering why nobody opened a thread about it when we have threads for every snippet of interview or every nomination for some nonsense award…
