Actually Elder is "officially" influenced by motorpsycho. I think I read an interview with them some time ago where they said something among the lines that after hearing Little lucid moments, they changed their view on the whole songwriting and composition process.
Did a quick search, but didn`t find that one, but found this.
I can hear recent prog metal bands like Opeth and Baroness but also classic '70s hard rock stuff in your music. What are your favorite bands and your biggest influences?
That's not really an easy question to answer as we all have very broad tastes in music. The most obvious influence on our recent music is Motorpsycho, at least compositionally speaking, as well as a lot of early prog rock bands and hard rock stuff from the '70s. Ironically perhaps, none of us listen to Opeth or Baroness and it's confused me to some degree that we seem to garner a lot of comparisons (at least to the latter). Some favorite bands? Bo Hansson, Stereolab, Black Mountain, Dungen, Motorpsycho, Credence Clearwater Revival, Emerson Lake & Palmer, etc. etc…"

Great album indeed, I fully support a vinyl release.
BTW while it`s hiiden on a CD box, it actually also streamable on Apple music!
Yes, a really enjoyable listen. The show as ha cool, relaxed and very geeky vibe. Great stories and reflections on mp, spidergawd and music in general. Feels very honest (except for the who´s your new drummer part ).
Loved it!
Tusen takk hvis dere er her inne
His new song is out now, very Gebesque. Not as good as That Day imo, but a nice enough little mid-tempo poptune.
Quote:Ah, I see. No dissidents allowed.Asking questions and being a bit realistic or cautious about a major change is frowned up. Everybody agrees that the new drummer is the best thing that has ever happened, fare thee well to Kenneth (we never liked you anyway) and the next all percussive afro beat album is of course already declared album of the year all across the site, eh. On vinyl that will be sent out a few weeks after release date (still waiting for my AADAP thing on that subject).
Then again maybe you guys know the band personally and do not want any sour grapes (or memberberries) to spoil that relation. Totally understandable. A bit weak maybe, but that is modern life for ya. Have a nice one.
Not sure about who has a attitude problem here….
There has been plenty of disagreements in this forum about musical directions, formats etc. Even the thread starter in this very thread is a skeptical about the new drummer ( but without sounding like a douche).
About Kenneth, he seems to have quite a big star in here, who put his OWN personal stamp on the sound, and will be missed by quite a lot of psychonauts. I personally hope the new drummer do the same, bring his own style with him that is. And judging his previous bands and musical escapades, I think this will be a good match. Hence my optimism. All percussive afrobeat album, now that would be very interesting, but seriously??
Also, when I pre-order, the record has always shows up prior to the release date, and whats wrong with BH/BC?
Really great news! A jazz(?)drummer who isn´t afraid of dronerockers. I love the record he did with Aidan Baker (of doom/drone/shozegaze band Nadja). Massive!
so yeah, liten forsinkelse fra Rune:
litt info begravd i en facebookthread
Hei dere! Beklager ventetiden! Håper likevel dere nyter musikken.

Today is the day! Anyone got it?
Nothing here. Came home to a mailbox filled with big black emptiness
Thanks!
Without sounding too nostalgic, but I really like this and it could easily blend in on disc 4 on the Blissard-box I didn´t really know what to expect (I´m not a big fan of HGH and all that hurra-meg-rundt stuff) so this is quite a nice little surprise.
No mention of an album (in morgenbladet at least), but I guess that may be something that´ll be out sometime soon as well?
Its Un Cinemateket d´Espace 1996.
Rune G has spoken:
"This is the fourth installment in the ongoing Motorpsycho luxury box-set re-issue program. While almost every Motorpsycho release is in one way or another a step forward, backwards, sideways, and most often everything at once, Angels and Daemons at Play is probably their first (can there be more than one…?) coming-of-age album. Following on the heels of the more streamlined Blissard, AADAP is the typically stubborn response from a band refusing to be categorized. Thus it is possibly the most varied, and on the whole, most experimental of all their albums. They also had the stubborn idea – as explained in the liner notes – to originally split it into three CDs, even if all the music would have fitted on one. Here, this original idea is continued on the three first discs.
Disc 4 includes the Starmelt EP, various outtakes and rarities. One of several golden nuggets here is the very first performance of Un Chien d´Espace ever, improvising to Luis Bunuel´s surreal short film Un Chién Andalou at Cinemateket in Oslo in 1996. Only the beginning and end were written, with everything else was up for grabs.
Disc 5 and 6 consist of the complete two and a half hour March 14, 1997 concert at Rockefeller in Oslo, recorded by NRK, the Norwegian broadcasting corporation. Never broadcasted in its entirety, and with the original mixes mastered by Helge Sten, this is the best and most complete version one will be able to own. One of the rare and lost treasures is Deathprod´s quite epic Komet, which took up almost half an hour at the beginning of this all around killer show.
In addition to all of this, you get a 24-page booklet with entertaining and enlightening liner notes, song comments and rare photos. To top it off, there are – wait for it – three very nice popcard type prints of Bent, Snah and Gebhardt.
Finally, the whole thing sports immaculate design by Kim Hiorthøy, using elements from the original 3CD set as well as some "remixed" and new stuff.
Simply essential!"
I´m sold.
I´ll correct myself, I´ve heard it before, I even taped it of the radio, but that tape is probably long gone… I remember having that one and Roskilde 93(?). Bless you Harald Are Lund. Not really into downloading every show they every played, so jey: official live recordings!
Anyways, we also get Deathprods "Komet" which I can´t remember was on the radio tape. I googled it and according to this blog is was. "More accomplished than his early recordings, and more visceral than his later ones, «Komet» truly is a lost masterpiece."
Can´t wait!
Very welcome indeed. Double live, yes please. I don´t think I´ve heard this before.
I don´t think this is disappointing at all; 3 discs of extra stuff! Even though most of the EP tracks are well known, it´s always nice to get them compiled. Plus there is probably a live un´chien on disc 4 as well. I thought maybe they would release it as a CD version of the LP ala the demon box box (with back to source, spacesuit..), plus a couple of extra discs. Getting the album in the original 3xEPs version is a bonus, as I only have the LP version.
Compared to most "deluxe editions" out there, these MP boxes feels genuinely loved and curated. The TM box had more or less just 1 disc of "new" and rare music , disc 3 being most of it all over again, but the context with listening to the first version, the booklet and everything is just wonderful.
Excited, as always.
So psychonauts, shouldn´t we discuss this hot gossip in this lovely forum or what…
Google translated to this totally awesome text:
WHO IS MR … X?
There is very little talk about Trøndelags great sons of tia,
MP, but it is perhaps not surprising. They have worked as backing musicians with Karl lush Tiiilers piece, "reversion".
I've preached with the band, and can hereby inform to those who thought that now was the ONLY tilbakeveldende and shit a little too much for Motorpsycho .. Heisannn! Motorpsycho the Game these days a new album with mister X behind the sticks! And you know what … It is ABSOLUTELY true! …. Hallvard wolf Smestad
