dear Johnny, thanks for pitching in. thats kind of how I hoped it would go…the people already doing that on DIME (and all that other stuff I never learned how to use
would take over when its up and running. Im back at it trying to set it up…and the band is very much on board. Basically the band have to let the ARCHIVE know they are ok with this and such. Once this is done I’ll try to set it up (again its pretty complex for me). When its up and functioning I would like for someone to take over because like I’ve explained I cant run/maintain 2 archives. x bernie
November 23, 2024 at 13:30 #43573I would definitely volunteer for this!
I started trading live recordings back in 2000 or 2001 (when we burned CD-Rs and sent them all over the world – good times!), and I’ve been a fairly active (MP) taper since 2006 (mainly shows here in Trondheim).
I work in IT so I know my way around all the technical stuff. I have a pretty extensive MP live recording collection, although not yet complete (lost a bunch to a hard drive crash some years back), as well as tons of live recordings by other bands. I now store everything on mirrored hard drives, and also backup everything to a different server, to hopefully avoid losing anything to a hard drive crash ever again. So you could say I have an above average level of interest in archiving and preserving stuff, especially live recordings :D
I love archive.org, what they’re doing is amazing and incredibly important. I have uploaded a few shows there in the past.
November 23, 2024 at 14:21 #43577@ Rolf:
Beside/beyond uploading stuff yourself it would probably mainly be encouraging other tapers to upload stuff and manage the MP archive department, i.e. setting up a few rules, if needed, and monitoring uploads. Keep it as open as possible and share the uploading task as broadly as possible.
I would quite like to engage in this having some experience in platform and content management, but I have to protect myself from my own idealism sometimes (danger of burnout, health issues). So please forgive me if I add my clever advises but do not share the hard work…
November 23, 2024 at 14:52 #43581(looks like some spam filter caught my previous post with direct links, posting again without links)
It seems pretty simple for the band to give permission:
go to help dot archive dot org, then “Audio and music items information”, then “Live music archive” and scroll down to “I’m an artist who would like to be included in the Archive, what do I need to do?”
From what I can tell, a new “collection” will then be added to the LMA, and anyone can upload Motorpsycho shows to it (unless the band sets limits/restrictions on who can upload).
There’s also something called Archive Curators:
“Archive Curators, volunteer fans who have proven to be in line with the spirit of this archive, will attempt to screen contributions for OK’d material only.”
It’s not clear to me if this is a group of users per band/collection, or a more generic group who curates all of the LMA. I also haven’t found any info on how to become one.
November 23, 2024 at 23:22 #43590@ Rolf: It appears to me this is a group of users per collection/band, as it says “volunteer FANS, who have proven to be in line with the spirit of THIS archive”. Who choses them or how you become one is beyond my knowledge though.
November 24, 2024 at 16:34 #43593@Rolf…thanks for the interest. Duly noted. It seems the band is finally in contact with the archive and things should start devoloping soon. it will be “official” news soon…

Thank you Bent and Snah, almost 30 years of supporting and following live but every time you make me think how lucky we are to have you.
See you again live soon in Italy.January 9, 2025 at 23:45 #43702Wow! Great!!!!!!!!!
January 10, 2025 at 07:44 #43703This is wonderful news indeed as I never could find my way into Motortrades. And if I may add here: please do not use any photos/images also, you do not have the permission to publish in this context. Lets keep *any* copyright troubles away from this archive, please.
January 10, 2025 at 11:55 #43704Finally! The wait is over, I’ve been listening to live music from MOTORPSYCHO since this morning! Thanks a lot for your efforts and hopefully a lot of torrents will be uploaded there now….I’m curious.
