Lots of good stuff here! Have not had the chance to listen to it all, but there are so many great bands/musicians in this thread! That being said i would like to pitch my own band, as we are also heavily influenced by these godlike musicians of Motorpscycho!

My band Shaman Elephant are releasing our debut album "Crystals" on the 09.12.16. We've released the title track of the album, which is available for streaming here:

    Shaman Elephant – Crystals

Hope you enjoy it! I'll supply you with links when the album comes out, if that's of any interest!

Anyone seeing Elephant9 at John Dee in Oslo tonight? My band Dødsego has the honor of playing support!

I’m following your band closely and have seen most of the videos available on Youtube as well. Looking forward to whatever you’ll put out after this first single. Cool and interesting stuff.

Hey Peeps. My new album is out on bandcamp.

And if some bass parts seem to sound a bit Benty… well that’s because it is him. I‘m stoked about him playing along here and maybe you‘ll like it, too.

Uhmmm I thought this might would have stirred a bit more of an interest. Or it simply flew under the radar with all the MP touring news. So I shamelessly would like to point it out again if you please indulge me doing so. :-)

Did an album with Bent – well he played on 6 of 10 tracks – and it’s here https://reponaut.bandcamp.com/album/the-dream-police-never-sleeps

Radio Romaniac had very similar experiences some time ago with his books included a lot of Motorpsycho-content.

Don´t care about ignorance, this is the MP-forum :). Maybe you have to post it at a more prominent thread.

I don´t have much time these days, but I have it on my radar. Listend to some songs and like it. But unfortunately no Bent at “Die Roboter” – cool version!!, especially the second half :)

I surely will listen again: Thanx for posting.

Did Bent sent you the bass tracks?

@supernaut: Not only did I not miss it first time around, I listened to your album in its entirety! I like it! The track that grabbed me most was Pleasant Planet. The repeating tribal drum pattern is my cup of tea. I like the building up of a trance-like feel, but with some interesting development. I Am a Laser also hit the spot. I’ll give the album another listen in due course.

By the way, I learned that you are in Switzerland. I’m not going to conclude that this means that you must know everyone in Switzerland, but, what with that and your hotline to Bent, I wonder whether you could be the man to make my dream collaboration come true: Motorpsycho and The Young Gods!

I think the two and the three would bring contrasting and complementary qualiities to the table. Everyone here knows what Bent and Snah have in their locker. The Young Gods would offer a great drummer and all the electronica and sampling. Whether Bent and Snah would step back and let Franz Treichler sing is another matter. I’m sure they could all share vocal duties.

Now Bent and Snah are without a permanent drummer, this is the time! The two bands would mesh together into one seamlessly!

Recent MP leanings towards Motorik are not so far from the territory The Young Gods occupy these days. Forget the noisy, early Young Gods stuff and check out ‘Data Mirage Tangram’, their most recent album of original material, and very trance-inducing. Just listen to ‘All My Skin Standing’. Who needs drugs?! There’s a nice tribal drum vibe there too – the sort of thing more commonly found on the albums immediately preceding this one. Your album reminded me of their music in one or two places. Maybe you know their later material?

Both bands are fond of collaborating, both are very generous towards those with whom they work.

I really think it would be an amazing combination!

                        Well, I can dream…

So, do you, by any chance, have an ‘in’ with Franz?

Thanks! Yes, Roboter was fun to do and I‘m quite happy about it myself. And yes, Bent sent me the bass tracks.

                          @suntripper

I‘ve been a big fan of the Young Gods since forever. Even longer than MP since they’ve started out mid 80s. They are one of the best and most interesting bands of all imho. But I don’t have any personal/private connection to them. Except for Al Comet jamming with a band I used to be in before said jam.
It surely could be interesting, a collab between TYG and MP. I feel a similar mindset among them towards the art side of certain things. Breaking conventions and boundaries in what it means to be a rockband, dabbling in soundtracks, experimentalism and classical music and whatnot. I know MP are aware of them. About the other way round I don’t know.

I wonder how big that Venn diagram intersection of people heavily into both bands is. Maybe it’s just you and me! 🤣

it’s quite common to be into both here in switzerland ;)
