don’t understand anything here, today and tonight.
if this is a double picture post – sorry!!!
but the post that I made one hour ago is not here anymore.
ok. again.
that’s me, with COTF and tickets from the four gigs I’ll attend this autumn.
(nice idea, un chien)
will be anyone so kind to post me personaly a digital version from COTF
August 11, 2009 at 00:09 #13344AnonymousMy first thought as i heard that COTF will be a vinyl only release was: cool. It’s 2009 and these guys celebrate their 20th anniversary with a vinyl only release, that’s a statement. Lucky that i own a record player. But i would like to download a losless version with a code which i want to find in the record, because for me it’s a lot of work to digitalize it. Especially to cut the tracks is my problem. I use audacity at this moment, works great, side a will be finished in a few minutes. Any suggestions how to split the recording into tracks with audacity?
My second thought as i heard that it will be a vinyl only release was: what’s with all the fans who don’t have a record player? I love vinyl and i only buy vinyl if possible and rip it by myself into a-side and b-side. But if i weren’t in vinyl anymore what would i do now? Buy the LP? Hm, yes, if i could get a digital version of it, but this isn’t legally possible in this case.
Desperate fans like superstooka posting pictures from themselves with the LP to get a chance to listen to what they have paid for. On the one hand funny and on the other hand sad. I would like to know what MP thinks about that. Another wordfull statement from the guys after the wordless statement to release it on vinyl only (without a download code)would be very very appreciated.
Just my 5 cents.
Sorry for my english, in german i would have written more.
August 11, 2009 at 00:28 #13345I would go for Steinberg Wavelab, for both ripping and cutting songs. Much more user friendly (if you are a PC user that is).
My 2 cents regarding your post: i think that the fact that they released COTF only on vinyl (for now – who knows what the future wil bring) is statement enough . Becides….if it’s a dream of Bent (or the band) to release a vinyl only album, then i think they deserve to do so, after 20 yars of hard work! What thought that lays behind it all, be it a statement against piracy, a plea to get vinyl back on the market, or simply just realizing a dream, shouldn’t matter. They’ve earned the right to do this! And if ppl really are that eager to listen to the record, i suggest that they stop bitching, and start being creative. Cus it’s not exactly science.
August 11, 2009 at 00:33 #13346AnonymousTo me it’s not statement enough. By the way, how can i put a picture to my profile? Wavelab, hm, i will have a try if it’s for free but i guess not, or?. This will be a long night for me i guess if i want to listen to COTF on my bycicle tomorrow:o(
August 11, 2009 at 00:37 #13347Well you best get cracking.
Here’s a link to fix the picture problem btw
Just register and follow the instructions
August 11, 2009 at 00:50 #13348AnonymousThanks, it works:o)
August 11, 2009 at 02:53 #13349@gbd: I think the vinyl only thing is a ‘cool’ idea and one that could only come from mp, which is one of the reasons we all thing they are such a great group of artists. of course they deserve to do so, but it does not help fans like me, who are not vinyl freaks, do not own a record player and do not intend to buy for this recording only…does not mean I don’t want to listen to the album and should have the ability to do so.
So, again: if someone can please upload a digital version of COTF I will send a check to Rune Grammofon (can’t give it to the band personally as I don’t think they will be playing in Australia anytime soon…)
cheers

August 11, 2009 at 07:41 #13350Hi,
I am able to digitalize vinyl into MP3. I did with â€ÂOhm´s Concerto for Auto+Soprano Saw†from Angels and Daemons at Play yesterday, because I like to hear it on the iPod! And it sounds great with a few small scratches from the needle!
It´s a song that is only on the vinyl version of Angels and Daemens at Play.
BUT….
There must be a reason that MP releases a Vinyl ONLY Album, so I am not sure if a digital version of COTF should enter the internet.
I don´t want to be the one to blame!!!
August 11, 2009 at 09:11 #13351Totally agree with NoerglKong. But hey, we live in a digital world, and the most of MP fans probably don’t have vinyl players, so I feel that it’s a damn shame that they can’t get to listen to this fantastic album.
August 11, 2009 at 10:02 #13352I’m sure that the reason is the reason that filmore has mentioned
August 11, 2009 at 10:17 #13353It´s a damn shame not to have a record player for Vinyls, I think!
MP always had fantastic Double Vinyls or Vinyl-Boxes like Timothy´s Monster with awesome Booklets and stuff.
This alone is a good reason to have a record player. And it sounds better in my opinion. Think about it.
So, how do we handle this analogue-katastrophe? I would spend the MP3 for a good purpose, but this should not be
some kind of a piracy-thing. As I said: Don´t blame me!!!!
August 11, 2009 at 13:21 #13354just one thought:
other forums close topics or erase posts just because people talk about that stuff you are all suggesting here !
this is no “call to arms/moderator” – just take a minute to think about it…
whatever the reason was for releasing COTF only on vinyl – and even if a downloadcode would be cool/the way to go/whatnot – it didn’t happen.
so stick to what you got – a new record of your favourite band !
and if you don’t own a turntable or you can’t manage to digitize it – well guess who’s to blame ?
sorry if this sounds harsh – i don’t wanna be.
i just generally think that just because things are possible means that they should be done (goes for a lot of things in life).
so if this is vinyl only – then so shall be it.
amen
August 11, 2009 at 13:36 #13355Amen Netsrak!
@ Superstooka: I think you’re both wrong, but that’s just me!
August 11, 2009 at 13:57 #13356it’s about being able to listen to the music whenever/wherever i want. i paid for the record. if it shows up, i won’t hesitate.
