@Deadnautpsychohead: I wouldn’t recommend a pager or a walkie-talkie either.
October 1, 2024 at 16:13 #43252Hello fellow ‘psycho heads. Has the Neigh album appeared on CD yet? I thought I had seen an online record shop advertising it. All the best from Lancashire
October 2, 2024 at 18:31 #43255Has anyone experienced poor quality in the vinyl pressing? Throughout tracks B2, B3, and B4, there is a background noise that sounds like scraping or perhaps like there is dirt on the tracks. It’s not very loud, but it’s quite noticeable, especially since B2 and B4 are relatively quiet tracks. I tried cleaning the vinyl, but it didn’t make a difference. I’m just wondering if I received a faulty copy or if they are all like this.
Other than that, I like this record a lot.
October 3, 2024 at 16:50 #43260@ astron: Same here. Poor quality. I am very disappointed. I want a black vinyl. Who needs all that shitty sounding colored records?! It´s not my first MP-Album with poor quality. Neigh was very expensive for a (single-) album – the vinyl looks good, but who cares? I really hope, Motorpsycho will return to release better pressings and stop disappointing their fans.
Hey guys, if you need more money, play more shows
And because of the songs on neigh: They are really good, but please try not to repeat your ideas again and again. There´s a lot of interesting music out there. If you need inspiration, you can ask

That’s too bad. I guess, then, that it’s probable that all the copies are like this, and maybe they are knowingly sold faulty.
It’s not unusual that vinyl has faults/imperfections, but I think this is way worse than what is acceptable. I’m considering complaining, but I’m not sure if I’ll end up doing so.
October 4, 2024 at 08:49 #43263It is sure sad having a crappy sound vinyl but I would cut some slack to the guys having to deal themselves with all the challenges of launching a label and all the problems around vinyl manufacturing nowadays (I run a label myself, it ain’t fun and easy).
In the end, I’ll see Yay and Neigh as a special time in the band’s massive history and would not care much about the vinyl quality of one specific little outtakes record.
October 4, 2024 at 09:21 #43264Uh, doesn’t sound to good (waiting for my copy to arrive). Let’s hope they’ll have another pressing plant for the “real” next albums and stick to black vinyl. We were pretty spoiled with and Stickman and Rune :-/
October 4, 2024 at 10:22 #43265I have the same, rather disturbing background sound….
On another note, it also happened at Rune: On ‘The Crucible’ – especially on ‘Lux Aeterna’ it was quite noticeable. I emailed Rune about it, and got a new, and better sounding, vinyl, so it was probably only a problem on a few copies.October 4, 2024 at 15:53 #43266Maybe we should cut them some slack. They must be on a steep learning curve and it’s probably pretty stressful. It was best to cut their teeth on pressing and distributing an album of odds and sods (which is not to say that there isn’t quality material in there) rather than going straight to the next release proper. That said, maybe black vinyl at a more reasonable price might have been the way to go – for more reasons than one.
October 4, 2024 at 17:59 #43267I support the black vinyl proposal. Althhough the coloured “Neigh” looks quite good – better than many of those multicolor-mixes abounding these days. But the sound is clearly suffering. Had the same problem last year with a private vinyl release from some friends of mine. There is always a little background hiss that won’t go away.
Nevertheless I’m quite happy MP put out Neigh on Vinyl. I love the album – better than some of the recent releases, especially “Yay!”.
October 6, 2024 at 10:36 #43272I don’t understand why we should “cut them some slack”. It was their choice to do it on their own.
If a chef at a restaurant fired all his staff, I would still expect the same quality of food if im still paying the full price.October 6, 2024 at 16:41 #43275I am sorry to hear about bad sounding vinyl. My copy sounds very, very good. No complaints at all.
The only crappy sounding Motorpsycho lp i have is the first press Trust Us. Very noisy. I bought another copy a while ago, equally bad. The white vinyl reissue sounds great though.
October 7, 2024 at 16:00 #43277@odindahle: Fair point.

That’s where our expectations differ I guess. If the chef is temporarily going through some rougher times, I would not go full-on Karen mode because of one slightly less tasty meal than usual, especially after 3 decades of enjoying the same restaurant.
