Ryley Walker and Kikagaku Moyo – 2021 – Deep Fried Grandeur

February 5, 2021 at 18:29 #34823Do any of you know about the Malmö band The Mopeds? Certainly not new, but this 1998 release is quite the little gem. Catchy, inventive and fun. Perfect counterpoint to these foggy and uncertain times. And some kick ass bass licks too 😀
Ps: The other stuff in there is pretty cool too.
February 6, 2021 at 15:04 #34824i'm not sure, maybe everyone here already knows this band. i became aware of it through stickman records:
needlepoint

such an incredibly good band, the albums grow with every listen (i only bought the last two on vinyl) and i am touched deeper and deeper. wonderful melodies and musical ideas. more delicate on the newest album, more rocking on the older one. i would highly recommend them.
February 7, 2021 at 21:42 #34825Coolest and most exciting debut album I've heard in ages: Black Country, New Road – For The First Time
Some weird mix of post punk, post rock, some jazz and some klezmer thrown in their for the hell of it. I'm hearing Slint, Steve Reich, Swans and lot's of other stuff. But oh boy, I'm having fun with this record!
February 9, 2021 at 16:50 #34826Been checking out a lot of the mentioned bands in this thread, and have found some gold in between the "one riff, two tones, 17 min.long song" bands that seems to be in majority here
That Black Contry, New Road album was great, thanks for that one crossskip. I think the vocalist mentioned in one of the songs that people think they sound like Black Midi…. Yes, they do

February 27, 2021 at 18:42 #34829Check out up and coming British rock band Torus. I think they could appeal to a few people here.

Nice band, thank you. Will wait for their debut LP.
BTW, if you are into grungy/proggy kind of stuff – my highest recommendations (from Ukraine with love ):
5R6 – 2015 – Islands

March 1, 2021 at 23:44 #34832Thanks for the Needlepoint recommendation, I overlooked it at first because of the ugly-ish artwork but it's a fantastic album.

March 9, 2021 at 14:35 #34834Anguish is Dälek, Hans Joachim Irmler (Faust), Mats Gustafsson and Andreas Werliin (both from Fire!).
I'm not into Hip Hop, but I really loved the dark atmosphere and free jazz accents on this one.

Gotta love the French!
March 16, 2021 at 20:11 #34836This is how prog can sound in 2021: Black Country, New Road. Reminds me of the mid 70s King Crimson sometimes, but with more horns
