Wow, the only show with two long encores and more than three hours playing time!

And even a tour debut on the final show (Superstooge)!

Well, that was one worthy tour finale! As always, Schlachthof brought out the best in them. They were in a great mood from the beginning.
It felt like a comprehensive MP show, it was all there: new songs, old hits, quiet moments and absolute mayhem. We got the longest Other fool I’ve ever witnessed with a massive, very rocky (at times even brutal) jam. Further highlights for me were Superstooge, Sinful, Kill some day, and Patterns.
The suit Psychotzar through Hyena was a powerful ending of the main set. What followed then was nothing short of spectacular, even for MP standards. Neotzar was about 30 minutes long and completely overwhelming.
Next tour, I’ll have to go and see more than just one show again. But Schlachthof will always be the first choice.
Keep those tours coming, we’ll be here! :mp:

Rocky brutal Other Fool?? I hope there’s gonna be a recording on dime.

(but it’s not on the setlist…?)

The only fool was that asshole that hit Snah with a plastic cup.
The only unpleasant thing on a great evening.
                  Schlachthof always delivers.
Just the sound could have been a bit cleaner especially in the beginning.

Kill some day and Fool’s gold were highlights for me, but also the new songs shine live. Quick Fix might be the only song I didn’t care about.

@Supernaut: Yes, I meant Whip that ghost, I mixed them up. Was quite late, sorry.

It was like a dream. And besides that fantastic jams, drones, spacelifts and emotions i especially liked Babylon. It still resonates with me …

One thing I just remember now is how the very beginning and the end of the show were quite similar: Mellow spherical guitar sounds, Olaf working the gong, all plunged into warm orange light. That’s how they went into Bed of roses and ended Fool’s gold, it felt like coming round full circle.

That was another very special evening. Basically the jackpot: Motorpsycho in high spirits at Schlachthof, one of the best clubs in northern Germany – if not the best club – in the company of best mates (including the next generation in the form of my now nineteen-year-old son Bent – his first MP concert, and he loved it) and surrounded by so many lovely psychonautic people – what more could you ask for.

I really liked the setlist: even the beginning with a very deep Bed of Roses – worlds stronger than the comparatively weird studio version (I want that for RW6). This opening already set the tone for the evening: heavy jamming. The set was a really great compilation of convincing interpretations of new songs (not to my chagrin, with Patterns only the best song from the Yay/neigh phase, which I found less moving), all-time favourites (nice surprise: Superstooge – tour debut, if I’m right), heart songs like Lacuna/ Sunrise and hits like Sinful, Kill Some day. And everything was played very strongly: the casual jammy parts (remarkably Whip the ghost right at the beginning) very nicely in harmony with the heavier riffing of the harder songs.

The sound mix was superb, at least where we were standing. The vocals were absolutely flawless – strong between soft and loud. And the interplay between Bent/Snah and Olaf had now reached a lightness by the end of the tour, releasing the power that was sorely lacking at the first gigs. Olaf still had the impression that the hired gun was doing a really good job without leaning out too far. And that leaves the icing on the cake of psychonautic flights of fancy that Kenneth and Tomas made possible in their strongest moments. But we are still at the beginning of a new era here and can enjoy the newly unfolding strength. Reine is now beyond any doubt anyway. The energy he brings to the band can hardly be put into words.

The Schlachthof with its audience area laid out over several terraces in high steps always seems to facilitate a special connection between band and audience. I always think: not only does every member of the audience have a clear view of the stage. The performers on stage should therefore also be able to relate more to the whole audience. That certainly makes a difference. And that is certainly one reason why concerts there are always special.

The atmosphere was great with the exception of the brief fragile moment after Snah was hit on the head by a thrown cup, which seemed to bother him much less than Bent, who after a sharp speech (“To the one who threw the glass on stage: do this once again we wil fuck off.”) briefly gave the impression that his good mood was about to tip over, which fortunately didn’t happen. #youdontthrowthingonsnah Snah was not at all put off by this. Every single time Snah seemed to give us his blessing after songs with his guitar raised #snahisgod.

And at the very end we were treated to a second encore, when they once again gently covered us with Fool’s Gold and released us into the night with the warmest of caresses.

I am very grateful for a great evening. Schlachthof Bremen is such a good place. Psychonauts are such great people and our guys are the best band in the world.
