Psycholab single editApril 26, 2024 at 08:16 #42720No info elsewhere so far. I really like this, a steady motorrik beat is always welcome, catchy and laidback tune and the production is lovely. Excited, like always, for what we can assume is a new album on the horizon.
That cover is hilarious “BOB”
April 26, 2024 at 08:26 #42721And then there was some official info:
Sgt. Psycho on a Friday, new single!
Psycholab is the first single from Motorpsychos 32nd studio album. Hedonism is the last resort of the desperately disillusioned, so a party song in the face of adversity -Viking style. Or maybe not… – feels appropriate and prescient in 2024.Psycholab is a pop song derived from dance performance music that was inspired by the Velvet Underground and 60’s performance art, but has a folksy vibe (fiddles!) and a catchy pop hook buried deep in the mix. Traditional Motorpsycho values in other words! Channeling krautrock and 90’s dronepop, this gem shines through dense layers of harmony while drum machine and toy drums bash away in a primitive psych groove and the drone goes ever on. Mon Dieu!

April 26, 2024 at 20:38 #42729I really like the song!!
April 27, 2024 at 10:34 #42731I guess it comes from the sessions they did in the corona times and from which “Yay!” came out. It’s Bent playing the drums on “Psycholab” and somehow it has a kind of “Yay!” feel to it. Maybe the album is made up of different recordings from different sessions that fit together well? Anyway, it’s too early to speculate. Exciting times once again

April 29, 2024 at 20:24 #42746W O W ! I absolutely ADORE this song. And the production and hook. Nice to hear them strum away into krautrock-heaven-MP-bliss again! Feels so long ago. And as always I love Bents no nonsense drumming. Economic and highly effective. Goosebumps! Überwagner/Blank Canvas vibes, but better. Great acoustic version too, can’t believe the on-key singing;) Hi hopes for the next offering! And the LOOONG version. Stoked!
