today I started listening to the second part; my 11 yearsold daughter says: dad, this is not motorpsycho at all! actually, my first impression is they rehearsed like some badalamenti's movie soundtrack, then came up with the idea (a good one indeed) to record all of it. I still waiting for my LP copy from the stickman people, then I will definitely tell my view (if anybody cares at all…)
February 15, 2012 at 15:15 #21330I've been through the album several times now and I must say I'm deeply impressed. I like the storyline and think the music accompanies the story very nicely. The production is great and the some of the melodies are really epic. The whole composition is quite unique and it'll be a blast hearing it at the Opera! There are also indeed some elements from other bands floating around, I especially think of The Mars Volta (as pointed out earlier), especially in "Into the Gyre". I also LOVE the Ola Kvernberg violin escapades in "Into the Mystic"!! Reminds me of the golden ages of Frank Zappa when he had Jean-Luc Ponty as part of his band – he did the most amazing violin improvs. Ola should join the tour for gods sake!
TDDU will definitely be going on heavy rotation in the next few months :MPD:
Looking forward to Sentrum Scene now!
cheers
Gustav
PS! That moog solo in the end of "Into the Mystic" is so great and so prog
PS!! @Traktorbass – when will we get the lyrics transcribed?

February 15, 2012 at 19:39 #21332same here.
February 15, 2012 at 20:14 #21333Maybe someone has mentioned this before, but I take the chance: Mutiny, at 2:50, is identical to the intro of Changes from Yes' album 90125. I think Yes should've been credited on the cover
February 15, 2012 at 20:16 #21334February 15, 2012 at 22:07 #21335nils1: Not exactly. MP has added one more loop to the riff (at the end before it starts again), but it's way to similar to be a coincidence.
Non serviam! – this is plagiarism!
No matter tho. The song itself is such a great one, so all is forgiven.
February 15, 2012 at 22:23 #21336funny review, fillmore.
the album gets better and better.
but wtf is going on at Munity? i´m going isane!! :MPD:
February 16, 2012 at 02:58 #21337Oh, man, Mutiny! They've got some kind of 80s prog thing going on, it really is amazing
@gusse: Careful what you wish for
February 16, 2012 at 07:24 #21338This album is great.
People looking for another Starmelt/Lovelight will be dissapointed forever, but this is definitely the way Motorpsycho keeps improving their records.

February 16, 2012 at 07:46 #21342@ nils1 and GBD – That part in "Mutiny" is indeed exactly identical to the "Changes" intro. I do, however, agree with GBD on "all is forgiven" (sung in a "Tommy" style) Great song ("Mutiny" that is)!
