Yeah, top 3 for me too. Best recording quality wise as well. Just every instruments sounds great, yet not "too perfect", still has enough rawness to it. The recording of the orchestra still blows my mind, how a "rather small band" like MP gets it down like this.
With Into The Mystic being in the top 3 MP songs ever.
April 17, 2020 at 20:40 #37251@TheOne FormerlyKnownAsDaniel,
I found only few minutes in YouTube from the concert in Oslo Opera:do you know any other site that has more or complete concert?
is there any valuable song recorded in recent concerts from DDU that can be listened in YouTube?
PS: please don't eat unicorn meet!
Thanks to all.

I hope not

I'd gladly grill a unicorn if I found one…
@The other Anders: Thanks for ruining the rest of the weekend :finger:
April 19, 2020 at 17:21 #37255@Mefisto: Here is something to ruin your week, too…
Out of the Woods / The Hollow Lands from Lausanne 2012.
You're welcome
April 20, 2020 at 09:19 #37256@WearingYrSmell89: Unfortunately I do not, neither did I record anything during the concert.

@johnny
So the ridiculesness (if that's a word) you see popping up when looking at the zeitgeist field, not in the albums' contents themselves? Well yes, TDDU might be considered to be more out of its time than those legendary concept albums were. Or rock operas if we want to call them so, but that's splitting hairs for me. Heck, they played that thing in an opera! I'm the first to put art in a zeitgeist context, especially when defending its value. But when it comes to TDDU I don't care if it was 2012 or 1973. It's bold and grand and a concept album and who knows, given a bigger budget, we might have seen a Unicorn movie and stadium tour and all the pomp as well.
oh thanks Anders! been there, too!
April 20, 2020 at 12:03 #37258But not having a proper DVD release of that opera show will bug me forever.
April 20, 2020 at 18:37 #37259@ supernaut: The ridiculité (wow, that's french for "get rid of it, you asshole") lies in the total lack of impact in the music world that the mighty Unicorn has made since its release. Therefore hardly to compare with the big concept monsters of their time who defined their decade.
I still am not decided if I'm happy or not that MP is such a limited cult phenomenon. But as Lemmy once said: "Had we been successful like Iron Maiden, we might have gotten lazy and sit around in our castles doing nothing".
April 21, 2020 at 00:12 #37260You can search "Neanderthal", it's an early rendition of "Through The Veil"
By the way I absolutely love that record, and i think the reasons why it is not played are:
1-only a few pieces would fit as a three piece band probabily. They had Storlokken on tour with them in 2012, so that with some re arrangements they could play the whole piece…
2-sing two guitars (Reine or Lo) wouldn't work either
3-it's a concept album, it narrates a story, and playing just part of it is not entirely correct. As in the Orgelfest concert, they played at least 4 songs to narrate in a logical way both musically and lirically
So I am afraid we have to wait another "featuring Storlokken" tour to hear some Unicorn live.
