November 7, 2011 at 14:01 #20645Quote:With the tracklist (Psychonaut/Go To California/Whole Lotta Diana/Come On In/Sheer Heart Attack), it's hardly likely that it sucks
yeah I know, and it sucks that it probably doesn´t suck
November 7, 2011 at 16:51 #20646I think it's strange that Motorpsycho have this policy. they make of course a lot of fans very happy with owning a special vinyl edt., but at the same time they hold back their live recordings for a lot of fans. It's strange that they don't sell this digital or something. In this way they could make some (moore) money on it and the people with the vinyl still will own something special ( or be able to sell it to a market price).
November 7, 2011 at 17:41 #20647Again – this is not Motorpsycho's policy, as Strings of Stroop was released by the venue, Effenaar. Motorpsycho had little or nothing to do with the release.
November 7, 2011 at 17:52 #20648do you really think they can release music without asking the artist(s)?
November 7, 2011 at 19:04 #20649Like the Rolling Stones used to sing:
You can't always get what you want
You can't always get what you want
You can't always get what you want
But if you try sometimes well you might find
You get what you need
…or you have to pay a high price on ebay!
November 7, 2011 at 19:11 #20650Or Jimmy Cliff!
You can get it if you really want
You can get it if you really want
You can get it if you really want
But you must try, try and try
Try and try, you'll succeed at last…on ebay
November 8, 2011 at 14:13 #20651But back to the music.
I've got it and the record is okay. For side one (and thus the older recordings) the sound is a bit naff – as can be expected. "Psychonaut" is as noisy as it should be. "Go to California" is just "Go to California"; the version is not especially remarkable – at least not to my ears. Side two opener "Diana" is a ball of energy – Kenneth firing on both pistons. For me, the highlight is "Come on in"; just a very good, heartfelt version of this seldomly played song. And "Sheer Heart Attack" is – as said above – a very funny (and yes, it contains the Bent "Snah in a cape and me with big buck teeth" intro) and tight-but-loose version.
All in all, as an artifact it's more interesting than as a record. But no, I'm still not parting with mine.

November 8, 2011 at 14:25 #20652nearly the same for me. but i think the version of "whole lotta diana" is outstanding great. comes somehow close to the version played in hannover. long silent part and very nice buildup to the end.
side 1 is ok, i would describe it with the same words as TvdR. All in all a nice gift of MP to Effenaar and their audience.
November 10, 2011 at 15:32 #20653Off topic, but someone's trying to get rich: Motorpsycho for sale.
Oh, and I assume this is just a typo or something…
November 10, 2011 at 18:34 #20654The promotional cds for sale at this auction is just some cd-r that where printed prior to the releases. The ILAC "promo" exist in at least two different prints.
