Full Earth. For those who know Kanaan this shouldn’t be news.
Kanaan, with Motorpsycho drummer Ingvald at the core, added two more members, took a new name – Full Earth, and released a massive album ‘Cloud Sculptors’ on Stickman Records. I saw them yesterday here in Trondheim and the concert was totally mindblowing.
They are now touring Germany and Denamerk, and if you are anywhere near by you owe yorself to go see a concert.
Satisfaction guaranteed.

I really love this clip. I took the audio from it and often play it in the car. It really rocks!
There is also another clip of another gig somewhere on YouTube (maybe 20 minutes?) where they had to use effects to treat the inferior video to improve it because the audio and the performance was so good. You’ll know it if you come across it.
@ThorEgil i saw both Full Earth and Kanaan at Sonic Whip in Nijmegen. My god, both bands where absolutely amazing!!
I was hardly in the venue when i saw the Kanaan bassist/Full Earth guitarist (who is bloody brilliant) who complimented me with my Causa Sui t-shirt. One of my favorite bands. New album out soon. The first released song is aweseome. Off course.
@ suntripper: Loved the clip as well – and was duely quite disappointed by the gig last night. Absolutely NO spontaneitiy, NO improvisation – and it was announced as a JAZZ gig! Rather a fully composed post rock affair.
If you take real live music of Motorpsycho et al. and so many other bands from Norway it was probably like comparing Mike Oldfield’s “Tubular Bells” to a mid 70s Hawkwind or Gong concert. A little bit like late 80s Tangerine Dream with added Grateful Dead “Drums/Space” elements from the late 80s/early 90s. Not bad, but rather sterile.
And the bass player didn’t play a Rickenbacker, but a Fender (precision? jazz?) bass…The clip you posted is really something different!
Yes, amazing Full Earth gig yesterday. I needed to buy a new shirt because there were 10l sweat in the one I worn
@Johnny: That’s a real shame. And you just reminded me of the stark difference between the great Tangerine Dream albums and the later stuff that disappointed me so much when I gave it a chance. I scratch my head at the thought that anyone who made Phaedra, Rubicon or the really good early stuff could be satisfied with some of the rubbish put out under the name in more recent times.
Still, I’m glad you enjoyed that clip. I hope you’ll be luckier another time!
@ThorEgil @Krist Rampage @theconscience: The Full Earth project ‘kicks ass’, as the young people say. The two live pieces on their YouTube home page are very exciting.If you were into Wolf People and you don’t know about this, you need to check it out.
Jack Sharp was the founder, singer and songwriter with Wolf People, who memorably supported Motorpsycho on a London date a few years ago. If you haven’t heard their last album, Ruins, you have missed a treat. If the idea of ‘Fairport Convention meets Black Sabbath’ sounds like it might float your boat, don’t let it pass you by. Night Witch is as heavy as Wolf People got, but the outstanding Kingfisher (perhaps a distant cousin of Lady May) is the priceless gem on that album. If it doesn’t bring a little moistness to the eyes, you are not human. Or wolf.
So much for Wolf People, who are on an indefinite hiatus. Jack’s current project is the band, Large Plants. The music is not so unlike Wolf People (although without the Sabbathesque edge that coloured that last album), blending rock, psychedelia and a quintessentially English folk vibe. Their second album, The Thorn, has been released on the cult label, Ghost Box. See what you think.
Agree, very nice band, although I prefer more sophisticated/psychedelic Wolf People’s tunes.
I wish, Large Plants continued to release their music via bandcamp, but there is only 2 singles there – probably, label’s decision.

I hope it isn’t counterproductive in the way SAHB’s throwaway, jokey, live rendition of Delilah was when it was released as a single by the record company without the band’s knowledge or approval while they were touring the USA. It was a success commercially but ultimately it succeeded in torpedoing their career as people thought that was what they were all about and so didn’t investigate further.
Rume Grammofon isn’t completely dead yet after all.
Quite the teaser for the next album with elephant9 & Terje Rypdal – coming in October.
