      @ Supernaut? Why? I can’t help feeling that way! I like Kenneth better! It’s just a difference of opinion i guess, just as there are people in here who liked Geb better then kenneth. It’s not pissing on Gebs work at all! Don’t get me wrong..He was a major part of MP for a long time, a real good guy, and a good drummer. It’s just how i feel. Perhaps i could have worded it differently, but the point would still be the same. And i don’t see why we should “drop this” as you say. If people wanna discuss it, then why shouldn’t they be able to do so? After all…Geb’s gone 4 years ago now. Time has passed, and both MP and Geb has moved on…

        I didn’t like LLM because of Geb. Au contraire. I just think, purely on emotional grounds, that MP is incomplete without him. But wait a minute: I never said anything on this subject!

        No, I didn’t like LLM and COTF because they were boring. I didn’t like Baracuda for the same reason.

        To be honest, I haven’t listened closely to Kenneth’s drumming. I will now, since it’s such a big issue, apparently…

          Well..i guess i misunderstood you then

          Anyway, this was supposed to be a topic regarding the new album, so let’s just leave it at that shall we. I just wanted to share my fondness for Kenneths drumming as a sidenote to new new album frenzy, the bright future ahead and all.

            GBD, maybe it’s just me, but I feel like reading this too often here. That Ken is sooooo much better than Geb blabla. It might be true (and who I am to doubt Bent’s statement to this) but did anyone ever notice anything bad or lacking about Geb’s playing before 2004? We had a great time at the shows and with the records for 14 years and yes now it IS time to skate on. :)

              My opinion: Let’s stop comparing or blaming the one or the other – motorpsycho are *back* thanks to a young guy called Kenneth, that implies they were *there* as we all know – we will not get back the mid/late 90s but also never had the actual motormachine which is going in directions we never expected: i love being kicked and surprised again :-)

                  @Supernaut: That’s the whole point! I’ve NEVER complained about Geb for as long as i’ve been a fan. He’s always been the drummer (if you count out Killer, which – not to be harsh – wasn’t that good!). But now we got this new kid who blows me away! And ME thinks that he has lifted the band even further with his wild energy and will to take the experimentation to another level. Sure i could have bitched about what Geb could have done in the past if he had been as good as Kenneth, but i don’t need to do that. Geb represented MP in the past, and suited the band perfectly. Kenneth is the future and a key piece in taking the band to the new level that they are exploring now. And after listening to LLM and COTF (plus the snippets from HMF) alot these past 2 years, i wouldn’t have it any other way! This is their path now, and Kenneth fits perfectly onto this new motor that speeds along it, sometimes at break neck speed! So in the end it’s all good!

                    Jacco was a session drummer hired for live shows. Apart from his tracks on You Loose, i’ve never actually seen him as an MP drummer. He did a fine job on the tour, but that’s that!

                    But to give him some credit, where it’s more fitting; Check him out with Suimasen back in the day! He does one hell of a job!

                    HEY! They’re actually still going….with Jacco :) ->

                      Well, at least we’re not on the drummer debate level that The Mars Volta fans are on. Let’s keep lovin’ all the drummers for their own styles.

                      Also: NEW ALBUM COMING IN THREE WEEKS! WOOOOOP WOOOOOOOOP!

                          Well, in retrospect Jacco did his best. I heard an interview which was posted on Motortrades where Bent said that unfortunately they were under-rehearsed before the spring 2006 tour. And the performances are too uneven (even though the Brussels gig should be heard by any psychonaut who gives a damn).

                          The summer festival-gigs that year were also hit-and-miss. However, the autumn tour in Norway was pretty damn good! But by then he was leaving the band, taking a year of from his work to play with MP. So one can say that Jacco was only a temporary solution.

                            Ah I cannot withstand it, so here I go:

                            It’s – said thousandfold – wonderful that MP is going on as strong as ever, thanks to Kenneth. Geb’s great legacy is his diversity. He played on Demon Box, on LTEC, on Fleshharrower and Manmower, on Watersound and Feedtime and Go To California and the Fishtank stuff and that huge amazing brontosaurus K9 suite. I hope that this diversity can be maintained with Kenneth, meaning the path has not been set at all by LLM and COTF. But that doors are slammed wide open. If you know what I mean. To me that’s more interesting to see in the future than who’s the more skillful drummer.

                              I have some booties with Jacco and they are brilliant. Sheeeeeeeeer Heart Attack! And there’s that open air video on the net with him and Oiyvind (ooops forgot his name) which is flawless, no?

                                Motorpsycho with Jacco at Øya 2006 was magic. I mean, Manmower->The Wheel, jesus. But he was more of the relaxed, psychedelic, 4/4 slowly building tension kind of drummer. Kenneth is the frantic, time signature-changing hard prog/fusion drummer.
