Haha! that’d be something I would do, If I haven’t been banished to Oslo, due to the unability to grow a moustach, and a comically low level of tolerance for moonshine and coffee mixed together.
You really should check out the commentaries, it kind of sums up the 90’s for me, everyone was doing something cool, nobody understood any of it, but was too ironically distanced to actually ask “why the heck are you doing that like that?”.
In the commentaries, the directors are completely busted, and is forced to make the lamest most obvious commentaries, in order to have anything to say at all – it’s hilarious!

June 11, 2009 at 16:16 #11787By all means! Go right ahead. It was stalemate anyway….
June 11, 2009 at 16:27 #11788Hehe, definitively!
Oh the movie projects, I made it as far as corpse #7 at one time, the sky was the limit, and corpse #6 was looking to have to spend the weekend at his parents house, no end to the possibilities!
If one couldn’t make it as the one with the weirdest taste in music, you could always win in the “most ironically distanced”-contest – good times, glad they’re gone ;o)
GBD, haw haw haw. You’re just happy I was distracted, since you were totally cornered by my brilliant wits and pointy fingers.

June 11, 2009 at 17:58 #11789haha not bloody likely
June 11, 2009 at 18:34 #11790Well, I just have to accept that not everyone can have a realistic and reasonable view on things, and especially the greatness to admit when they have been defeated…
o well

June 11, 2009 at 21:20 #11791Little Lucid Me: You said that the alternate take of This Is Motorpsycho was all about Fagers getting a lollipop from his girlfriend? (otherwise it was a total waste)
But you totally left out the incomplete but amazing live version of Kill Some Day (that for some fucked up reason was excluded from This is Motorpsycho)
And not to forget that the hidden acoustic version of Sister Confusion is 1,653,967 times better than the shitty original on 8 Soothing Songs For Rut.
On-topic: I’ll download Child Of The Future when some kind soul leaks it. If my conscience feels guilty, I’ll buy some extra merch at the next MP-gig

Hehe nobody can be defeated here. We’re all right and/or wrong! It just depends on how you choose to look at it.

Quote:Well, then we don’t get each other’s point, and what happens is – chronologically:1. The bands longevity comes from having a supportive fan-base. Known fact.
2. Therefore the band and the fan has a relationship which means music, and good times <–> money and the occasional cheering at concerts. Subjective judgement.
3. The band has it’s birthday, and half of the concertcheerers, half of the moneybringers and other followers, doesn’t “get invited”. fact.
4. Some fans gets pissed off, and writes laconic and sarcastic posts at the bands forum. fact.
5. Some fans, which are “invited”, gets all defensive, and calls other fans dutch and other nasty things. subjective judgement.
6. Hell breaks loose, because some fans hasn’t got the wits to step away from a impossible discussion. fact.
And here we are. Still not agreeing – big surprise!
Yep. But to me agreeing or not is of no importance. People have various opinions, fact.
Basically, your main point is that the fan feeds the artist, so the artist owes the fan. Since I am a fan, a consumer and a musician myself, I can’t relate to such a scheme.
And I really don’t get why people rather waste their energy on discussion boards than on a few bucks for a record player. Especially if the delays hint to a very special musthave vinyl edition from MP.
June 14, 2009 at 17:32 #11794Yes/no, the fan and the artist depends on each other, it’s not a matter of “owing” or not.
I don’t dictate MP, (even though I was clearing my throat during the pop-period,) and I don’t expect them to dictate what’s in my hi-fi setup either, and the “this is an opportunity to get a LP-player” attitude in the pressrelease strikes me as downright arrogant.
If I can make an observation about this, I’ve yet to see any other fans who accept this kind of behaviour, how “religious” are you guys really?! “The bands latest release isn’t available to me – o well, since it is Motorpsycho, I’d rather spend money on a lp-player rather than asking any questions, in fact, I will defend the bands decission rather than ask any questions!”
– what!?

June 14, 2009 at 19:26 #11795come on. its not that big deal to be so frustrated.
June 14, 2009 at 19:40 #11796Perhaps some of the reasons we (in this case me) “accept this kind of behaviour”
1.) It’s not the end of the world
2.) It’s their birthday, and if the wish to release a vinyl only (and might i add An Albinized record), then god damn it they’ve earned it with 20 years of hard work, resulting in excellent music. And i’ll be contributing to their birthday wish by buying the record.
3.) Again….It’s dead simple to rip it after purchase, so no problems there. And there’s always a record player…
4.) Bent is a true vinyl freak, and it may have been a long time wish of his to release a vinyl only album. But you’ll have to check with him on that one..
5.) It can easily be a little anti piracy statement..Which is needed nowdays
6.) Supporting a band by buying albums and going to concerts shouldn’t be seen as an “expence” where you expect something in return. It should reflect the love for the band and music. I for one don’t feel that Motorpsycho ows me anything. In fact, i feel like i owe them, for all the good times, the inspiration and the incredible music they have given me. And to repay them, i’ll buy this album, as i will with every new one to come..(mho)
7.) For all we know, a cd is on the way.
8.) It’s Motorpsycho :)And they do whatever the heck they want. Like AAAALWAYS!!
Finally..Being somewhat of an agnostic, i can’t say that i am especially religious. But on a good live day, or with a good record, MP is probably the closest i’ll ever come to god
So yeah…i’m pretty religious. But i’m still seeing straight
June 14, 2009 at 22:47 #11797GBD, i totally agree with you. Nothing really more to add. I am really really really looking forward to Child of the Future, and can’t wait to see the so ‘spectacular artwork’. I am very curious about the sound too, love quite some Albini recordings. I don’t really know what to expect.
Basically i am a Motorpsycho freak, a Shellac and Albini fan, and a vinyl lover. So this must be great. I trust ’em.
June 15, 2009 at 13:16 #11798Well put, GBD.
And Stalemate, there’s no religious mindless following here. But you’re the one making a fuss.
I didn’t even know about that “buy a record player” pressrelease statement till now. But I like it.
Thinking about this: yes, if I hadn’t a record player and if it was the only way I could ever listen to a new record by my beloved band, why the heck should I NOT get me a record player??? Should I rather bitch about it? Calling those who’d happily buy one a bunch of mindless sheep? Weird.
