February 10, 2020 at 12:17 #36057my post went in the wrong thread
April 20, 2020 at 16:56 #36058It's now available on bandcamp:
April 21, 2020 at 08:53 #36059damn, how good are the title track and The Jig is Up? I put it out there that these two are not really considered to be members of the go-to-classic-MP-songs club, but shouldn't they be?
April 21, 2020 at 12:42 #36060Bonny Lee was on the BH/BC Bonus Disc…pretty much their first take on stoner rock, or at least their own specific kind of it. They also played it live around that time.
I really enjoy Mockingbird, which I heard first at the 2014 Turin show. I really like how light it is compisition-wise yet heavy regarding the sound. Has a Timothy's Monster Disc 1-feel for me.
In general, I really appreciate that they use the situation to make such stuff available.
April 21, 2020 at 14:10 #36061I am so happy about MP on Bandcamp! Yes, I love vinyl, but this is the right platform for me for a variety of reasons (limited budget, shipping to USA, and I only listen to digital these days for logistical reasons). I was actually composing an email to the band yesterday to ask what is the best download method from their perspective, which would put the most money in their pocket, and then this emerges. Perfect! I hope they put their whole catalog up
April 23, 2020 at 09:40 #36062@bionaut – like you, I'm a Bandcamp fan. The only vinyl records I own (by any band) are MP's En Konsert, RW3, RW5 and Terje Brekkstad. And I don't plan on buying a record player and getting back into collecting vinyl. I understand and respect all the reasons why people prefer vinyl, but at this stage, I'm not going back to buying it unless there is a specific album put out that I can't get any other way, and as long as it prefereably includes a CD or a free download with it.
So I'm very happy about this Light Fantastic release on Bandcamp and hope the band decides to put Child of the Future, The Motorpnakotic Fragments and HBM vol. 2 on there too although I also understand and respect all the arguments by fans and the band for why they might prefer not to. PS: I have managed to acquire all the albums mentioned by unofficial means – but what I would like is an opportunity to get them through official means and in the process give the band money for them. I did this as soon as I became aware that Light Fantastic was up on Bandcamp.
April 23, 2020 at 10:53 #36063Totally with you. I have too much vinyl and dread the day I‘d have to move. But The Light Fantastic’s sleeve artwork is hilarious and genius and if there‘s one to have non-digitally then it‘s this one.
October 20, 2021 at 17:58 #36064On artwork (plus Blissard):
October 21, 2021 at 20:35 #36065I only understood "micky maus". Did they ever play in Russia?
October 22, 2021 at 06:58 #36066suntripper, great video, thank you for the link!
BTW, the guy in this video is not just a big Motorpsycho fan, but also a leader of bands The Grand Astoria, The Legendary Flower Punk and others (I posted some of his albums in New Music thread).
He also made this interview with the band in 2015 for Russian magazine InRock:

supernaut, as far as I know, they played only once there, at SKIF festival, St.Petersburg in 2018.
One of videos from that concert: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_igv5aBbwr4
October 22, 2021 at 11:56 #36067@punknotyet: I did not know that! I had already come across and been impressed by The Grand Astoria. Maybe it was because of your recommendation; if so, thank you. At the risk of going off-topic, can you suggest which you think is their best album?
October 22, 2021 at 12:18 #36068@suntripper: it's hard to pick one. My most favorites from TGA are "The Mighty Few" (2015), "La Belle Epoque" (2014) and "From the Great Beyond" (2020).
There was a small discussion about "The Mighty Few" on the 2nd page of New Music thread.
October 23, 2021 at 15:13 #36069@punknotyet: I remember the discussion now you've directed me back to it and recall other people of taste also approving of The Grand Astoria. I think that must have been how I got wind of them. I meant to buy 'From the Great Beyond' but it got forgotten somewhere along the way so I shall now seek to track down a copy. Isn't it the way with great bands – you just can't choose a best album? With Motorpsycho I'd veer between at least six albums if trying to pick a favourite.
