It seems like our picture was removed from the Aftenposten-article. Bummer

Anyway, thanks a lot to Traktor, Tellef, Sondre, nameless girl and Traktor’s friend which I’ve unfortunately forgotten the name of (5 days of alcohol fucks up one’s memory for sure  )

Can’t really say anything that hasn’t been said. I need at least a couple of days to land from this Motorpsychodelic trip. Really dug the setlist order: The shorter songs at first to get them warmed up before the lengthy marathons at the end.

Godamn, what a night! And what a terrific ending to an already awesome festival! And now time to get some well-deserved sleep.

Vedius: yeah, of course the false opening to Feel was intentional, but by fumbling I meant that it really took quite a few songs before this concert went from good, to amazing, fantastic mesmerizing etc. As expected the pop songs (first 6) didn’t work as well as the more experimental and drony songs. So I really was almost gutted from what I heard and what I was feeling. I was really nervous before this concert and 4-5 songs in it seemed like all my fears came true. Then around Now It’s Time to Skate and definitely Watersound everything changed, at least for me, but it seemed like something similiar happened on stage. Geb was on stage playing acoustic guitar and I was transported back to my boy’s room being 15 years old. I’ve seen something like 31-32-33 MP-shows now and Watersound last night is the high point of all those shows.

And the sound, which ruined the Pavment show on thursday was very very good. Loud (but not really loud untill Watersound), yet detailed and crystal clear. Good stereo imaging (this is not common with PAs like this), there was very easy to hear what every individual on stage was playing at all times and (thankfully) no resonances in the bass which has been a problem at the Enga stage.

First 30 minutes: nostalgic and fun

Last hour and a half: MP at their absolute peak with everyone on stage. It doesn’t get any better.

Yeah and this really should get a live release. Everyone should get to hear how much Lars’ piano and especially that extra acoustic guitar (geb) adds to some of these songs.

              My favorite moments:

              1) A monumental The Wheel blew my mind .. sad about the ending being cut short, but still..jeezz!

              2) The Golden Core is always a thrill – the segment with Snah being the lone sound and then the entire band kicking back in – truly unbelievable!!

              3) Giftland was an amazing redevelopment of an amazing song – Grateful Dead meets the greatest band on the planet in 2010!

Even though this wasn’t the greatest gig i’ve seen by the band – that honor goes to the gig at Rockefeller in 95 with a 35+ minute version of The Wheel – it easily places itself in the top three ever. :D

I paid 700,- for a festival pass this saturday. Invasion and Converge were disappointing and i just saw 10-15 minutes of Altaar (coz i had to take care of my 9 month old daughter). But the gig by MP made it all worth it – AMAZING!!!

oh what can i add here? what hasn’t been written yet?

maybe my initial thoughts a couple of months ago, when i first heard that timothy’s monster will be played at oya 2010? i was a bit hesitant if i should go all the way from switzerland for this. one main reason why i love to see motorpsycho is that you never know which songs you’ll get, but this time it was the opposite. it was clear, timothy’s monster and that’s it. a defined setup. so is this worth such a trip? worth the money? worth battling my flight anxieties? now, about 14 hours after the show ended, i can only say YYYYESSSS!!! this was simply amazing!! nice mellowish start, amazing Now It’s Time To Skate/Watersound combo, a mindblowing jam in Giftland (deathprod added a lot of superb sound layers to all songs he joined in) and what can i possibly write about The Wheel->Sungravy->Grindstone->The Golden Core part… i can’t, words FAIL me here. i can try nonetheless: it was pure magic, the few moments in life were everything feels perfect, when things became sacral. it happens so rarely for me and all i can do is thank all responsible for this.

so here’s a try for a list of my pure magic motorpsycho concert moments. i have to add the somehow now lost motorpsycho phase and one of its shows back in 2006 in Pully/Lausanne (playing as a trio Bent/Snah/Jacco, the only trio show with jacco?), that one had its magic moments too, the one song jam consisting of Triggerman->Manmower->The Wheel->Devil Dog was so good, it was almost scary to witness. And of course some of the earlier shows, i have very fond memories of my first ever motorpsycho show back in 93 in zuerich, but the real killers were the ones in biel from 96-2000, those we all amazing shows. and some shows on the 2001/2002 tours had their amazing moments (the pub show in nottingham springs the mind) but that roughly last hour yesterday evening, from the wheel onwards, i don’t think that can be topped anymore, that was the final statement of what music can do.

so thank you you motorpsycho guys and a equally big thank you to you people i meet during my short oslo trip, oystein, vilhelm, akane, christiane, riemke, and you two nice people from trondhein, of whom i don’t know the names, it was a pleasure meeting up with all of you. hope you enjoyed this show as much as my fanboyish statements present it here ;-)

If there was a bootleg, I would have put it on now. Btw, Adressa states that the fireworks was not planned. It was synchronized with Wagner at the Opera!

Any tips on a hosting site for the recordings from the show? I need to upload them.
