Hi all.
Just thought you might be interested in a review of October's London Borderline gig which appeared in the latest edition of 'Classic Rock Magazine' in the UK. It's by Jo Kendall.
“NORWAY ROCKERS BRING THE BEST OF 20 YEARS – AND THEN SOME.
With venues across the country collapsing like Aussie wickets in the shockwave of recession, it’s reassuring to find nestled between the flattened Astoria, the CroBar and London’s snottiest bookstore this remaining preserve – a 200 capacity subterranean retreat where veteran Norway avant-rockers Motorpsycho will play their only London show.
With 20 years of material available, tonight’s 90-minute set-list will be a lottery and the trio start with narcotised jam-ballad Year Zero, before breaking in two wild new psych-outs around syncopated heavy blues breaker Whole Lotta Diana. Drummer Kenneth Kapstad cuts a lean, mantis-like figure as he obliterates his kit, while Hans Magnus Ryan’s colourful guitarwork, and Bent Saether’s retro-progressive bass lines choreograph jazzy sonic ballets for the brain. As Hogwash’s hairy groove thrillingly segues into Can’s Halleluwah, a transcendental Mexican head-nod sets off around the venue, and the crown are rapt. Final song X3 can only disappoint – mainly because it’s an unrequited finale, and when the ugly lights go up no-one wants to leave. Catch ‘em while you can.â€Â
We love MP in the UK too!
