Marius Lien is currently working on a book om The Death Defying Unicorn. The book will be published in the series “Norske Albumklassikere” (Classic Albums from Norway) on Falck Forlag – at least it will be published if they can fund it.
One two – you know what to do: https://www.bidra.no/prosjekt/bok-motorpsychostorl%C3%B8kkentddu-marius-lien/aa05b9c4-7988-4e07-b9c9-0986e7b0a64d
December 12, 2022 at 10:54 #40843Cool! But quite important to me and possibly other non-Norwegians: will this book be in English or Norwegian?

December 12, 2022 at 11:23 #40845Norwegian only, I presume.
December 12, 2022 at 13:50 #40846Hopefully the book will be better than the album…
December 12, 2022 at 14:13 #40847Are you kidding?
December 12, 2022 at 16:14 #40848I asked the publisher Falck forlag about a possible English version/translation. Sounded like it might very well be a possibility further down the line, but one thing at the time. I guess they have to fund & write the Norwegian original first…!
@Mefisto: Hopefully the book will be as good as the album.- This reply was modified 1 year, 11 months ago by cloudhawker.

December 12, 2022 at 17:09 #40853Good that you’ve done that! I’d love to read a book about the Unicorn, but only in english.
December 12, 2022 at 18:02 #40854@suntripper: No, I am not kidding, as I really don’t like the Unicorn album much. Still a book would be interesting, at least that is my hope
December 12, 2022 at 18:05 #40855@cloudhawker: If the book equals the album, I am not interested anymore…
December 12, 2022 at 18:50 #40856@mefisto: haha, fair enough. Let’s agree to disagree then.
December 12, 2022 at 19:32 #40857Christer Falck says on facebook that the aim is to also print an English version of the book so be prepared to pay up.
And Motorpsycho say on Instagram that they can’t wait to find out what they were on about.
…and Snah told me – after the Hedvig Mollestad Trio gig a few weeks ago – that they were all very exited about being able to do some of the Unicorn stuff again with Ståle Storløkken at Orange Factory. I wouldn’t be very surprised if they do it again some day. (Ståle is a very rare and sought after resource).

December 12, 2022 at 20:14 #40859@mefisto: That’s a shame. I’m sure you given it every chance. I think it’s one of the best things they’ve done and the notes that came with Supersonic Scientists seemed to indicate they thought it was as close as they’d got to their essence.
@ThorEgil: That’s good news about the English version. I’ll be having a copy in that case!First a Blissard book, now a Unicorn book. I only need a LLM book to have my three favourite albums covered!
December 12, 2022 at 21:34 #40860@suntripper Are those notes on the lp or the cd too, i have the CD’s Will check.
December 12, 2022 at 22:14 #40861@deusvic: I’m looking at the ‘Rock Family Tree’ type folded insert from the CD which details different incarnations/periods. Motorpsycho #11 made TDDU and, among other things, it says,
It is a serious work that is seriously demanding to listen to, but the reward is staggering if one likes anything Motorpsychodelic…..No detour, it is probably the strongest distillation of the Motorpsycho spirit recorded so far.

December 13, 2022 at 21:53 #40864TDDU is the only album I‘ve immediately loved as a whole after listening to the first two songs. Strange but true.
