August 29, 2018 at 15:00 #33369From a recent interview with Andrew Scheps.
QUESTION: Looking back on your career are there any, or several moments, that you thought: “This is heaven, can’t believe I’m working with this artist/project.
ANSWER: Tons. If you look at my discography, if I hadn’t had them there would be something horribly wrong with me.
The obvious one is working with Red Hot Chili Peppers, I had been a fan of theirs since the very beginning. I saw them live in 1986 when they were playing in small clubs, so being able to work with them was absolutely amazing. Every single day in the studio with them is incredible.
Then there is a band called Motorpsycho (check them on Apple Music, or Spotify), from Norway, who I have been a fan of for years. Loved them but could never get in touch with them, tried a couple of times but it didn’t work out because I didn’t know any people who knew them. However, in the last year, I got to mix two live records for them which was absolutely incredible. When I finally met them all I wanted to do was to talk about their old records and ask how they did this and that, so just being able to have a conversation with them was amazing.

Google translator:
Did you review their discography when you arrived in the band? And how is the composition process going?
We focused directly on 'The Tower', writing songs and then recording them in California. It was only after we went back to the oldest Motorpsycho.
The whole group is involved in the process. For 'The Tower' and the next album to be released, it was rather Bent who proposed ideas, riffs, on which we shot a lot, that we arranged and re-arranged until we happens to something we like. Each creates his own parts, nothing is imposed by one or the other, contrary to what one might think. It brings to a lot of discussions and choices that are made collectively.
A new album each year, is not crazy as a rhythm? What can we expect on the next?
You think so ? I think it's normal, so we spend time on it. We usually rehearse every day of the week from 10 to 14-15h, like another job what. Except that it's more fun and also gives us the opportunity to do other things. On my side, it is including mixing work, but also my other Norwegian projects like Sunswitch and Yodok III, or other specific collaborations. Last year, for example, I worked on an order for the Molde Jazz Festival with two Swedish friends, like me. I need this diversity and it's always great to replay with MPs after a tour with another band.
The next album will not be a continuation of the previous one, it will be just different, as the band has always done. Another direction, forward. And at least one tour in 2019, if not two.
-> Yes two tours, please
Spring and autumn? The Whole interview is pretty nice!
September 22, 2018 at 07:33 #33373@Tomcat – Nice little interview. Thanks for posting. A new album already on the way, another tour, maybe two – I've never felt so spoiled by a band.
September 26, 2018 at 08:52 #33374From Bob Le Bad, on the new album:
"We are currently in the process of mixing the next album,due early next year. Andrew Scheps is working his magic on the material we recorded with him and Deathprod in Wales in August, and we are absolutly positive it’s going to be a great addition to the cannon! We’ll give you the down and dirty as soon as we’ve settled a few things, so hang in there!"
