OK, we're gloomy indie people, but this site is the only thing I visit that is hard to read in the sun, so I am thinking we need brighter text or some other change.

      OK with everyone?

        sounds good to me!

i suppose anything that raises the contrast should do.

just make the background bit darker but not too dark otherwise your eyes will hurt when reading :-)

ehm wouldn't it be better with a bright background and dark writing?

I personally prefer dark backgrounds with bright text. Staring into a bright screen is more taxing on the eyes than staring at a mostly black screen. There are people who might see it otherwise, of course, and its best to have a choice, I suppose. Some forums have colour schemes that users can change themselves – this would be ideal, but I dont know if its possible with the software used here.

Darkened the background, unsure if it's enough improvement, we'll see.

I find it hard and tiresome to read like that. These tiny letters fighting against a dark background not to be overshadowed but they are.

What's wrong with a common black font on bright background? As on google or youtube? Too corporate? Or like in this typing window actually….?

Second that. If anything, this got harder to read.
