I think this man's importance to Motorpsycho and many others can't be overestimated.

I absolutely agree – what a man. I don't listen much to the radio these days, but in the 1990s I spent a lot of time listening to Harald Are Lund's programmes. Whenever a new Motorpsycho album was released, he would devote a large section of the programme to them. He played all kinds of music, and introduced me and others to a lot of bands. A Norwegian John Peel, I guess.

          RIP man.

I remember all the Roxrevyen shows in the late 90's when he aired all those infamous Rockefeller shows + more. I taped them and played those recordings to death.

Norwegian John Peel is an extremely accurate description.

I remember him playing the entire LLM suite too. The John Peel of norway. He'll be missed

HAL was the most important promoter and provider of interesting music in Norway through 50 years. And that goes way beyond Motorpsycho.

              Truly sad news.

Legendary Harald Are Lund did really appreciate Motorpsycho, and his passion for the band was just beyond. For a majority of record releases since Demon Box, he dedicated the entire program to present the latest recording along with in-depth interviews. Countless times, he showed up with his (NRK's) recording bus outside Rockefeller concert hall (Oslo) to tape the MP live performances for later to be broadcasted nationwide.

Harald Are did credit the Blissard advertising in Norwegian rock magazine "Beat" in 1996 with the following brilliant statement (freely translated from Norwegian):

"You would easily fall in love with Motorpsycho in case you are seriously interested in music, because the band is sharing this interest with you. This is very noticeable in their music. The band has taken the massive effort to listen to important parts from the entire music history. Because they are real musicians, they are capable to absorb those musical elements later to refine and innovate them. Merged with their own ideas, the final result is mindblowing.

Equally important:Their ability to improvise is a very prominent ingredient in the musical expression coming through the three individuals we know as Motorpsycho"

RIP Harald Are, you made a difference

Sad to hear this. A very fine man indeed. Responsible for countless musical discoveries, especially important when I was a teen in the 90s. If my memories are not mistaken its through him I first heard motorpsycho, when he interview them and played lighthouse girl show he had on P2 (can't recall the name.). Always long good talks with the band when a new album or EP was out, and always the place to hear a new MP song first.

                A true "Hedersmann".

Rest in Peace and with a billion good records!
