for those of you who know the "hitchhiker's guide to the galaxy" story: there's this loudest band in the universe, who uses to play on a starship, having the PA set up on a planet adressing the audience on yet another planet because they're that loud. So I'd say they only need to play the aboveposted KJ song In Excelsis and there'd be peace forever.

"…like clockwork", the new Queens Of The Stone Age album. I listen to it every day for at least 5 times. A masterpiece. Contender for my fave record from the last 20 years and this list would include Motorpsycho!
Gone (mostly) are the boomy droney walls of sonic attacks. It's a delicate wonderful soulful heartfelt sexy intimate piece of musical genius. Title track sounds like fallen from After the Goldrush.
Give it a spin or two, no matter whatever you thought of the band so far.

Funny! I didn´t like the new QOTSA album at all. Gave it a spin while working, and was really disappointed!
Have to agree with supernaut, the new QOTSA record is a beast. Not an angry beast, but a delicate, mature, and yes, sexy, beast. A sure contender for album of the year IMO.
On another note, check out O'brother. Just something I stumbled over. The 2011 record "Garden Window" is simply stunning.
Do not judge the song on the first few minutes, sit it through! what an ending!
I really like the bass work on this. a little traktorbass feeling.

to use the cliché: I'd say it's a grower. There's no immediate moment say like "no one knows" or "little sister" for example. I heard a few first notes some weeks ago and I thought I'd get it eventually but wasn't forced to hurry by those. Then I watched some live renditions like the Letterman special above or the 2h Wiltern show – also on youtube – where they play the whole album plus another hour of old favourites. And in the latter I started to only watch the new songs because they stood so out in form and style. Now I can't get all their melodies out of my head anymore. The wild My God Is The Sun, the sexy Smooth Sailing, the superbly crafted I Sat By The Ocean and the emotionally charged title track.
