    "MORE is more!"

From the cover I presume it's going to be less heady stuff – more in the psychedelic freak folk direction, with mushy sound and mushroom head keyboard swirls all over the place and spidery guitar solos with lots of ant- or beetle-like notes creeping underneath ;-)

Heads off to Motorpsycho! Btw: More Is More! With MP anyway!

Second that. More is more as proven since 1989. It seems they’re just constantly at it. What‘s the longest break from playing/working they ever took? A month maybe? They‘d have to have to release an album every three months to ever have a weak obsolete album. Considering the re-released box sets, that amount of temporarily shelved stuff in there speaks volumes. Can‘t compare them to other bands with „ordinary“ schedules, partially due to contractual obligations as well, though, I guess.

Speaking of shelving: Maybe songs developed through the Gullvag trilogy which didn‘t fit in ended up on this one. Like what gave us Barracuda in the height of their pop years…

Maybe it‘s totally brütal metal onslaugt

Maybe Bent's got the chance to demonstrate his liking of Roy Harper on this one – after the title reference on TAIO (TSOR). Just wishful thinking…

I just read an interview with Bent from November in which he said that the new music he'd recently listened to included Idles, Black Midi, Astrosaur, Smerz, Ultraflex and Valkyrien Allstars. Maybe some of that will have had an influence.

The new albums are piling up! The Tower took me a couple of years to fully digest. The Crucible is probably peaking in these ears right about now, though the title track is still growing, and I just recently was able to pop the lid on TAIO. Haha, what a luxury "problem". I start to wonder what I can do to pay them back just a fraction of what they give me. One is for sure: This life would not have been the same without Motorpsycho. I feel so blessed.

From todays Klassekampens Musikkekstra regarding the cover (In Norwegian):

                    Motorpsycho

                    «Kingdom of Oblivion»

                    Stickman Records/RuneGrammofon

Last week, a new album was announced from the institution Motorpsycho. Not terribly many details about the music on albums publicly, than so far. The release date is currently 16 April. And a little more complementary info about the cover. Because where the last three studio albums have been adorned with paintings by Håkon Gullvåg, this time the immediately unmistakable pencil line by Sverre Malling is in front. We got a quick comment from Malling:

                      – I received a request from Motorpsycho to draw a record cover for the album. The title cut, "Kingdom of Oblivion", is about the opiate epidemic. After getting acquainted with the pictorial associations, I suggested a recent drawing that I thought could fit . And when vocalist Bent and HÃ¥vard Gjelseth (graphic designer, also known for extensive work with Crispin GloverRecords, journ.anm.) Saw this drawing, they found both a relation to, and an extension of the title. By drawing both the logo and the record title by hand, the result was also a composition more directly related to the record.

@Punj Lizard If Idles, Black Midi, Astrosaur, Smerz, Ultraflex and Valkyrien Allstars is what Bent listened to I really have no idea what the album is going to sound like….
