Dear fellow psychonauts
Does anybody have a story to share about Mantrick Muffin Stomp? I’ve always loved this song. Its rolling bass, the groove, the gorgeous raging noise at the end. A bit atypical for Motorpsycho perhaps, yet a perfect fit on Trust Us. The song to me has always been sort of a mystery – from being completely overwhelmed to wondering ‘how on earth do they pull this off’? And also because it is hard to find any info on this song. For instance: when was the last time they played this song live? A live version on YouTube doesn’t seem to exist.
So what’s the story behind it? Anybody?
There are probably other such great mysterious songs in their catalogue – a nice topic for a new thread it seemed to me.

MMS has been played on 23 gigs, the last time 2017 in Trondheim.

I can't think of many other mystery songs right now which aren't b-side oddities. "Proper" songs which are only mysterious because they rarely seen a stage. I guess Evernine and Rad Freq are also contenders. Then BBD and HBM which have only been played on their album's tours. But the Muffin Stomp story does bear something different, can't quite put the finger on it. Maybe only because I find it soooo especially good and wonder why it's left closed in the vaults over the years.

September 8, 2021 at 13:33 #39067I've seen Mantrick Muffin Stomp live twice (Rockefeller Oslo, 2002 and 2007).
Pretty energetic and tight versions! But I think there's not much they can do
with it live, hence the reason it's rarely played.
And as previously mentioned. I would also love to hear Radiance Frequency live someday.
THAT one they actually could do something interesting live with.

September 10, 2021 at 09:50 #39069@mefisto, President Block was only played 2 times :o https://mpdb.space/song/president-block/
September 13, 2021 at 07:29 #39070Yes, I know, and I'm still waiting. They had the chance to perform it with Helge on the Demon Box shows, but they didn't use the opportunity!
