No discussions so far on links between MP and Van Halen, or at least that I know of on this forum. Here's an interesting possible one: check out Van Halen's On Fire (first album) and MP's X3 (HMF). Although completely different songs, the grooves are similar and the yells 'I'm on fire' (VH) and 'won't you fly us' (MP) virtually identical. Curious to hear psychonauts views!

Never liked X3, which seems to fit well :-)

Similarities might be down to the somewhat "generic" rockin', but listening to the VH song, I must say that's probably more than a coincidence. But doesn't make me more of a VH fan that I already am. Which is quite… not.

Hi, big Van Halen fan here (shame on all of you who are not! ).

I don't think there are many similarities within the two songs, except for the chorus sung in a similar way. As Supernaut said, it's just a generic shared rocking DNA.

Anyway, if I ever discovered that MP got their inspiration from my favourite band for one of the tracks from my favourite album (HMF) I think my head would literally blow up.

Motorpsycho are definitely Van Halen fans, I remember reading an interview with them in a German guitar magazine (which is originally enough called "Guitar") back in 2008, in which they said that the recording of LLM had been inspired by the organic sound of the first VH albums…

A Van Halen fan here, especially of the first albums, and LLM is one of my favourite Motorpsycho records. So here you go.. :-)
