I like that: “…Neigh!! is an album of ‘songs that won’t fit on an album’ – the non-concept of all concepts…”
June 28, 2024 at 15:14 #42980Is it correct that you have a download included when ordering via bandcamp, but not when ordering from their shop?
June 28, 2024 at 18:01 #42981BTW: Those are the songtitles:
1.Psycholab
2.Return To Sanity
3.This Is Your Captain
4.All My Life (I Love You)
5.Edgar’s Bathtub
6.Elysium, Soon
7.Revenants
8.Crownee Says
9.Condor- This reply was modified 3 months, 1 week ago by boomer former helm.
June 28, 2024 at 19:16 #42983My enthusiasm is very limited this time. The announcement text doesn’t really knock my socks off either. Rather the opposite. It does say “not a collection of B-sides or simply leftovers”. But the whole text still sounds exactly like that. Yay! hasn’t really grabbed me yet. It’s definitely the album I’ve listened to the least. And every time it came up in my selection, I thought “Nah, leave it.”
And now I realise: somehow I’m not so keen on what is supposed to be the new Motorpsycho album. Even the new single “All my life (I love you)” doesn’t necessarily increase my anticipation.
What’s more, I’m currently sensing that my desire to pre-order has been significantly dampened because the connection via Stickman is no longer there. Until now it was clear: MP would be ordered from Stickman. Now it feels like it’s completely arbitrary.Incidentally, the feature “Tintype Splatter vinyl Motorpsycho stores exclusive release” is irritating. Because this is exactly the version you can already pre-order from Bandcamp, Juno or Rough Trade. How exclusive is exclusive? Or are there only exclusive releases with the new label?
I really don’t know what to make of the whole reorganisation yet.
June 28, 2024 at 19:49 #42984As a German Psychonaut I can only confirm how different the relation to mp releases is nowadays, without Stickman Records. Lots of “soul” gone and from the customers view 36€ for a single LP is tough. If that is the only way to keep the band going it is better than giving up.
Musically it’s a(nother) turning point. Yay and Neigh are more of “in-between albums” before something more essential will be coming up, recorded together with Ingvald. I hope.
I love motorpsycho being deep and spaced out but was fed very well over the last years and albums. Quite a few fans prefer their “lighter” songs and will be happy nowadays. And with Reine on board there is a special quality regarding the musical arrangements.
If mp would stay on this path I guess I’d slowly be losing interest – but new material is already recorded so let’s see what the future brings – at least there is one. I am positive :)
June 28, 2024 at 20:12 #42985For you 36 for me Will be 42. Luxury this days. Do you think they are neglecting CD this time or it will pop up late?
June 28, 2024 at 20:38 #42986As it’s a release without distribution, more like a fan thing, I’m not worried at all. It’s up to us to support them. That’s what I’m doing. (I just don’t like the cover to be honest but I think I understand the meaning behind it, and thats kind of cute)

June 28, 2024 at 22:12 #42988I will buy of course, but neither Psycholab nor All My Life have me excited. A shift in tone is fine, and sound wise they are fine, but as songs… let’s hope “Neigh” doesn’t translate to “meh…”..
June 28, 2024 at 22:39 #42989At the Twitter account some insights and this;
Motorpsycho announce Neigh!!, a collection of “songs that won’t fit on an album”
June 29, 2024 at 08:07 #42993A presentation of all the songs by Dr. Th. Kneipp
June 29, 2024 at 10:15 #42995Not a signpost to a new direction then – merely a collection of odds ‘n’ sods, however you want to dress it up. (I can think of a previous assortment of ‘fragments’ not all of which were pearls.) So I won’t despair if I am underwhelmed; better things are round the corner. Anyway, I know there will be something in there to savour. There always is.
June 29, 2024 at 11:33 #42996The description of the individual songs is really very touching. My anticipation is definitely very high. Just take “Condor” or “Return to Sanity”. Wow.
And I really have to say that I think it’s absolutely right how they continue on their path. They are simply doing everything that is necessary to survive as a band in the present. I am fully behind them.
(and actually I start liking the cover )

June 29, 2024 at 12:13 #42999I can be happy with an album of weird noisy outtakes.
“Yay!” didn’t do much for me but I remember being somehow disappointed by “Phanerothyme” back in the day, and it’s an album I go back to the most.June 30, 2024 at 22:56 #43030Sorry, Velvet Underground was the link
June 30, 2024 at 23:04 #43031Edit. Psychonut assa
