No Frank Beard on drums then?

It was interesting to hear Bent describe the album. He said a few songs were short, straightforward thingys. While a couple of the songs “could only be played on the night broadcast”, whatever that means.

Also mentioned full promo. So I’m guessing extensive touring in 2025 :mp:

@ suntripper: As you probably know, the Bearded Two only accept beardless drummers. A moustache might be o.k., though ;-)

13th in Europe as far as I know. Plus a few days for delivery?

Was already expectant when (non-)receiving record post on tuesday, but it was only??? the three reprinted Roy Harper albums I ordered, personally processed for delivery by his old lady (sorry Tracy). Was equally happy, coz the stuff is really great, beautifully packed, fantastically remastered (and remixed?), comes on fat vinyl and can be ordered tax-free within the EU (but there’s VAT of course) directly from the great man himself in Ireland (via royharper.com).
Shameless advertising, I know – but for old Roy I’ll do almost anything. ahh – isn’t this the Roy Harper forum, by the way???

Saw it in the record shop in Trondheim yesterday, looked very beautiful. Tho I couldn’t buy it. But, hoping for some feedback and reactions very soon!

                      So…it’s out. 1st listen…i dunno…
Some cool ideas here, but a strange album with imo sub-par production/mixing. Gonna give it some more spins tomorrow as i may suffer from tired ears right now

My first impression was that they made the right decisions leaving these songs off the other albums. Because this REALLY sounded like a bunch of outtakes/rejected songs (well they are, but you know…)

And don’t get me started on Snah’s vocals on This Is Your Captain. Biggest WTF moment of the record

Of course there will be repeated listens, and some songs do sound like growers. But first impression was a bit underwhelming even knowing the nature of these lo/no-fi tracks.

It’s cool! If he leaves MP, he can join Aurum.

@hogw: As much as I love Snah, there’s not a chance in hell he hits those high notes live. A tad studio augmentation there, I reckon.

On the 3rd listen now, and it’s honestly starting to grow.
But the album does feel all over the place, with a bunch of semi-finished/un-produced ideas thrown together haphazardly. But maybe that’s the charm of it.

Second listen and I don’t think it is a bad album at all. Sure it’s a bunch of outtakes, but it’s more in line with the traditional MP than Yay!, which didn’t do much for me.

“Return to Sanity” is the only song I don’t click with, but many others are very good and could work well live.

If these songs were released on 2 EP in between Kingdom of Oblivion and Ancient Astronaut, that would have been very cool as well.

My first impression was the exact same as @otherdemon’s. After a couple of more spins, I must say I do like most of the songs, some of them even a lot. However, I will probably be skipping Elysium, Soon simply because it sounds too much like a song off The All Is One (which I loved and played to death). I really, really don’t need more of that in a new context! Oh, and This Is Your Captain? Hahaha! Would’ve loved to be a fly on the wall when one certain decision was made.

Also I’m wondering what will be the next part in the “emulating Fleetwood Mac’s Albatross” collection of songs. We’ve had Cormorant, Snahlbatros and now Condor. I’m guessing Falcon, Seagull, Pigeon and Owlaf are next? :yahoo:

I think my favorite track so far is Revenants. Bent acoustic strummer combined with a sinister synth bass in the background = winner!
