What a great album. I highly recommend this! Sonic Youth in folk / acoustic guitar style with majestic violins!

    Indeed!

Got it on clear blue vinyl!

Cool, will get it in vinyl too, have it only as a "pre-listen digital album"….

    "Needle hits black laquer" :)

You should also get trees outside the academy on the kool picture disc!

Yeah good album! But I guess I like Trees Outside The Academy even more.

But songs like Circulation, Blood Never Lies and In Silver Rain With A Paper Key are great songs!

      #20079

Have to get that one also!

I guess one of the reasons may the that there aren't any drums on this album…at all. There are percussive bits here and there, but no real drumming. The absence of Steve is clear…

Nice songs tho! Thurston still got the touch.

I haven't heard "Trees Outside The Academy" yet but "Demolished Thoughts" is really turning into a favourite end-of-this-summer / day on the beach album. Benediction and Iluminine have grand melodies, as well as the last three songs, that I've not been able to seperate yet, just recognizing them as one flow of acoustic sounds and harmonies! :)

Very nice record I also think I love Trees even more. That record balances the thurstonness in such a goodway with noisenumbers and sweet sweet melodies. And J Mascis solos. His "first" solo LP Psychic hearts also is highy recommended

here´s a recording of a recent SY concert in NYC. Excellent setlist, and psychic hearts* as encore

          enjoy

(*the song, not the whole record)

Wow! Sonic Youth are really banging out a lot of OLD tunes!
