I recently discovered the genius of Tim Follin (and his late brother Geoff), two brothers who are considered the masters of chiptune music in early videogame history. They started off on the ZX Spectrum, squeezing everything possible out of the 3-channel 1-bit chip that the Spectrum had. Those guys brought Prog Rock to videogames (check out their Solstice soundtrack for the ZX Spectrum, which also references Yes).
While browsing their work, I came across the music for a SNES game called PLOK, which is widely considered to be the best SNES music soundtrack ever.
Check out this song from the soundtrack, it reminds me so much of Kebabels Tårn that I can’t help but think MP might have been inspired by this:

Sure it’s the same time signature, and maybe the synth bass riff has the same feel as Bent’s bass riff on Kebabels Tårn.
But it’s played in a different key, and not at all the same notes. And honestly Bent & Snah doesn’t strike me as hardcore gamers who would be overtly familiar with semi-obscure video game music (I could be hilariously wrong though )
This isn’t nearly the same as that Dimmu Borgir instrumental that was blatantly ripped off an old Amiga game.
