Hey Folks,
since a while i'm thinking about fooling around with some synth sounds. The two MP concerts last week pushed me further down this road. So… since I don't have the money to invest in some MoogMonster i'd like to ask you, if someone has experience with this kind of stuff. It should be affordable but also not shitty ^^ I'd like to connect a base pedal to it, cause I am a Guitar-Player. So, if anyone got some tips for me it would be very lovely to share them with me.

To somewhat emulate the Moog sounds you could use a laptop with a software and Midi footcontroller. For demos in the studio I run a (legally!) free vst plugin for the Moog Taurus through Ableton Live on the computer. Which would work in a live setting, too. I have a genuine Taurus I as well and the vst plugin does come quite close. Motorpsycho use Taurus II and III pedals though but the low rumble I guess you're looking for don't differ too much from each version to the other. With a Midi/Footcontroller set up you could also dial in Mellotron sounds with an appropriate plugin btw.
I don't think there's a satisfying budget hardware solution by any other synth builder… It's Moog Taurus or bust.
Mayyyyybe the less expensive Moog Minitaur might do the job but I don't really know that one and how it's controlled.
And I guess you need some really big amps and a few cubic meters of sub-woofers to really achieve the proper sound
True that. Only a proper PA will bring out the Taurus' potential. It already does sound great through a bass rig but I always tell fellow musicians who like it in a rehearsal room to wait till they hear it on stage. Especially if the subwoofers are placed under the stage. "We have a lift off!" That said, I guess with proper settings you might achieve that with the vst/midi solution as well.
I got mine after I've heard Taifun for the first time live. Just had to have it.
