And this proves??
It still sucks. Not as much as Composite Head though.
February 25, 2019 at 20:17 #35077Do you have a theory why Theme de yoyo has been the top rated cut on Spotify since forever?
February 25, 2019 at 21:36 #35078Something something voter fraud
February 26, 2019 at 01:30 #350792 words to the haters:
hooo! hooo!
February 26, 2019 at 05:34 #35080@Vegard – the only reason I can see for Theme de Yoyo being at the top is that lots of fans of the Art Ensemble of Chicago original (or people somewhat familiar with it, or with one of the many other versions of the song) must have either played the MP version unintentionally or for comparison.
February 26, 2019 at 07:21 #35081It was just Tomas trying to learn how to drum it
February 26, 2019 at 07:58 #35082Punj: I didn't know it is a cover.
So that's pretty natural then, yes. A bit sad that the newcomers who check out the band on Spotify aren't directed to some of the proper bangers but.
February 26, 2019 at 08:07 #35083@Vegard. A friend of mine, not knowing that MP had done a version of Theme de Yoyo, asked me last year if I was interested in seeing the Art Ensemble of Chicago. The only song of theirs that he knew was Theme de Yoyo! We went to the gig not really knowing what to expect except jazz, and it was incredible. Serious free improvisation over an hour and a half, with thematic changes and brilliant musicianship. And two double basses! But no Theme de Yoyo!

But they are, did you not see Neverland on the top 5?
February 26, 2019 at 09:28 #35085I wonder how they decide what goes in that "top 5" because it isn't the number of plays.
February 26, 2019 at 10:00 #35086Haha TraktorBass, you really can't get enough of that Neverland-fetish, can you?
February 26, 2019 at 10:06 #35087@punj: It's based on which songs are played the most in the last 28 days. The total number of plays does not affect this

@otherdemon: Well, it is a great tune!

edit: And now the Neverland nay-sayers will have to face the inconvenient truth that Neverland is one of the top 5 songs the last month. Just stickin' it to the man.

February 26, 2019 at 12:31 #35089@TraktorBass. I guess you've been on there playing it over and over for the last 28 days then
