I chose (and like) "Welcome to Algiers" because it was massive live and stood very well up to the classics. "And Your Bird Can Sing", well it's a Beatles song. Helmet playing Beatles is quite worth a listen and does of course not sound like the rest of the album.
I can't follow the melody/aggression point. I find no more or less aggressive and melodic singing and riffing on the new albums than on the old ones. Remember the melodic "Unsung", "Wilma's rainbow", "Biscuits for Smut" or "Driving Nowhere" for instance and there's lots of much more abrasive aggressive stuff on the last 3 albums. They might need more listens than the old ones did back when we were younger and more impressionable?
I have no problem with Cornell's statement there because he's right. He's got something to rightfully be proud of.
Way too harsh my friend. For one thing 20 years have passed. Some things have changed. He tries different stuff. But hearing newer and older songs live alongside each other, can one really tell the difference if one wouldn't know? I very much doubt it. Some things only happen in the head of the listener. Some new songs would fit perfectly on Betty or Aftertaste and not all of the classics fly that high above the new songs. Do not be deceived by retro romantics. And they were in a good mood that night. Great show, what more can you ask for?
Cornell and Audioslave, yeah that wasn't necessary. I rather have him back with his old fellows now.

And last night I've seen Kashmir once again. What a fantastic live band. I admire how they transcend their delicate arrangements onto a live stage with all that extra dirt and life that are a bit missing on the records. Kasper is a gifted singer/performer. Sparks of inspiration and soul everywhere. Very entertaining. Their new album as a super deluxe vinly edition is a treasure btw.
I like Cloudlicker. Never heard of them till now.
now on tour, go catch 'em! seen them live last night. they're as relevant as always, though only Page is left from the original line up:

the miracle of copy/paste.
all I know about Mountain is a live show in 84 or 85. they supported the reunited and therefore long awaited Deep Purple. I felt they played forever and half of it was one annoying guitar solo, and I mean SOLO, Leslie was alone on stage noodling and noodling and noodling… so I never ever bothered to listen to them since.
So I'm peeping into Natucket Sleighride now, sounds nice enough….
listening now.
du-du-du-du indeed!
thanks a lot!
Quote:Do you consider your live shows to be still as good as they used to?What a strange question! We obviously feel like we have something great to offer, if not we wouldn't charge people money to see us play, would we? a MP-gig is a different thing now than it was when we started, but that's all I could really tell you! I don't think I'm the guy to ask this question. Sorry!
ehm… probably the strangest question ever.
hell yes!
no one else? geez… get some lucidogen!
November 4, 2010 at 13:11 in reply to: Monolithic (Kenneth Kapstad´s other band) is touring europe right now! #18363seen them. liked it a lot and i'm no metalhead. besides speedy doublebass and gruntvocal there were lots of soundscapes and build ups. quite entertaining. there's no denying that i was quite open to it because of kenneth. but it WAS really fun, i can't help it. i also like these guys: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jdMDcG3zAEI
