On Whole Lotta Diana Snah goes all Jimmy Page in his solo at the 4min mark in tone, styling, phrasing (edit: that said, he may laugh at this saying "nope, I went all [insert any other guitarist]"). The little melody after VS's first verse reminds me of KC Starless' guitar intro lick.
Though I can't point out a bad song, or seven even, I'm with Bron. It's just a topic to discuss lightheartedly. So ease up, folks
Thanks for the upload! Taifun!
Quote:All you blasphemysts and tyrants – let's all meet under the oak tree for a multi-sides duel armed with Ghettoblasters of the same power and everyone playing his/her favourite motorpsycho tune/album at the same time.I'd blast Mutiny. Instant win.
Quote:I consider that blasphemy and I'll meet you Sunday morning at the old oak tree outside the village. You choose the weapons!Hmmmm lemme see… I choose Kenneths tomtoms, because there's strength in numbers! Ha!
Quote:Behind the Sun is very very lame… None of the "songs" deserve any good place in their discography: Cloudwalker, Ghost, Entropy, Promise, Magic&Wonder… all very "meh"…He said Jehova, too!
But seriously, to me Magic & Promise are super powerpoprock songs which stand with the best of them. Damn, they're better than Starmelt or Wearing Yr Smell. Structured as conventional 4 min songs, too, but arranged as tornados and played with an irresistible fervour. The Promise's build up around the solo (that bass line!) and sudden break and back into the verse with drums only just floors me.
Btw while we're digging up the back catalogue, there was a Kenneth era live song called "blah blah Dog blah" something… "Dog Parade" maybe? Don't remember. It had a killer riff. Which one did that one turned out to be? I thought it was to be Ratcatcher but obviously not if it was Dora Peach then.
hard to deal with dayoffs
I love The Slow Phaseout, brilliantly crafted tune. That middle section? Amazing! I find it somewhat odd if people prefer Cake/Phano/Love Cult to any other albums previous or after, but nevertheless I find them full of great songs. Überwagner, 30/30, Stained Glass, For Free, Upstairs & Downstairs, Circles, The Mirror and The Lie, the band took a turn and ventured to new places. So in a way it's no different from Demon Box and The Unicorn and Folk Fest. All pieces in a puzzle, but a similar mindset throughout.
Quote:See, there's the proof! No song without lovers, no song without haters.Exactly! Though I don't hate any of their songs. There's a few I don't need to hear in concert but as JERO pointed out, they play their stuff their way and somehow it always works, be that The Golden Core, In Our Tree, K9, Come On In or Go To California. I'd love to hear more Demon Box stuff or Home Of The Brave or Lighthouse Girl or any really old songs I never got to hear live even I was there back in mid-90s but the past is the past.
Ratcatcher is a groovemonster, love it.
there's a video snippet on Geb's FB page: https://www.facebook.com/dasbootstudio/?hc_ref=ARTlgz7Mi9fuXZWabVZ6R0rpZOSBNlLTc4vdN-hZ9VVnNKjUY6DZY4Wo_BLfLpe9dPg&pnref=story
Quote:And it's only real and authentic German if pronounced with a proper "P" in the band namevery true  oh the guy was in Biel, too.
strange they don't play any of those songs on this tour…
Those FB pics aren't visible to the unregistered public…
What now? Rumours? Or did Geb actually play?
