My impressions from yesterday:
When I arrived, I thought "Oh no, what a Hillbilly out of town disco bunker!", but the venue is acually alright. Sound was good (but for my ears (with protection) way too loud especially towards the end of the show) and it was not packed, very comfy.
Nice mix of old and new songs. My personal highlights: Junior, Waiting Game, Watersound, Feedtime and HBM 2. Liked the gig way better than Hamburg last year. Sometimes this all out rock stomping gets a bit boring for me, although the Hogwash riff never fails to bring a smile to my face! When they played Jr. I thought "That's what I miss a bit in recent years: These fine somewhat poppier tunes that they have written over the years."
Year Zero is becoming my new Go to California. I have just heard it to much over the years at MPs shows. Would have really liked Superstooge instead.
Big Black Dog does not impress me much. Bent's screaming just doesn't do it for me. HBM 2 is really good, though! Great buildup and diversity!
All in all, I am still sorry that they didn't play the Schlachthof in Bremen this tour (Jazzahead festival taking up all clubs in Bremen), but I am glad I went to Osnabrück instead.
Closed! Ticket went to another Psychonaut…

They don't think too much of it 6/10
Because Bremen seems much better…
Oldenburg? Why?
We need Bremen, Schlachthof! THE location for MP gigs!
Any recording?
No answer from that mail address!
"we all tend to overplay anyway"
Even Bent says it! 😊
I completely agree with Great King Rat. New songs are not bad, but I have been visiting MP shows since 1995 or so and back then I was much more overwhelmed by their shows. For me Sail On and U Lied were nice, because I really love their shorter and catchier songs a lot.
To me the jamming is at times almost a bit generic (Kenneth being all over the place, Snah noodeling away), e.g. from Hell through to Entropy it felt a bit like one song, especially because the vocals were very low in the mix where I was standing.
For my taste a show like Hamburg 2013 fits much better. Back then the Blissard songs shone like diamonds and added diversity to the jammy parts.
And I am glad, that Vortex Surfer still gives me goosebumps even in the 40 degree surrounding up in the balcony.
Grünspan is a very nice venue, so calm down. Might have better acoustics than a tent.
Oh btw. I was in THAT tent 1999 at the Hurricane Festival, too (Damn, I am old!)
@Great King Rat: You are right! Don't know where I read that date! Hooray!
Damn on the 27.06 is the Champions League Final. I can't go to the concert in Hamburg then!
Bent was reading the lyrics in Bremen, too. Even for a song like "Hey Jane" which they must have played about 200 times. Is he getting old…?
Superstooge! Cool!
