I’m really glad I made it, fun hard-rocking setlist, for a show that lasted well beyond my expectations for a festival slot. I had expected 1h 40/45, ending at about 00.30, instead they went on until 1 am!
Their spacey/psychedelic side definitely took a step back for this one (I guess it will be the case for the whole of this festival run?), which is probably for the best also because I’m honestly not too sold on Olaf, he seemed to be doing all right in straightforward rock tunes but struggling a bit (imho) when jamming with the guys. Whip That Ghost wasn’t the best and I remember Kenneth shining on it. It’s probably that when you have seen phenomenal drummers like Kenneth and Tomas you expect a little bit more “flair” and creativity, and I also think Ingvald had much more chemistry with the boys. This however did not detract from a really good show, Bent & Snah were in great form, I think they both sang really well (probably more rested than when they do a long run of consecutive shows) and definitely captivated the audience. Which was indeed incredibly huge, the biggest I’ve ever seen at a MP concert, most likely many people never heard of them before and and I’m sure they were thoroughly impressed. Tbh I could have done without the moshpitting (even on Go to California, come on) but in the end I’m happy they got some new fans there.
Sinful was the highlight of the show for me, a song I love and didn’t expect at all. Having probably seen some of the kids in the front rows, Bent introduced it as “something from when your mother was young” :D :D
Quick Fix (“a song we never played before… I mean, we never played it live”) works quite well, I hope they’ll keep it and play from time to time in the future, Hyena and the closing covers were also really fun.
In case they’re reading this space, huge thanks and congratulations to the organizers of the festival, they deserve the success they had Saturday. We also took the chance of doing some sightseeing in beautiful Valtellina on Sunday (San Martino-Val di Mello), to us city dwellers it’s really something!Yeah, it’s been my #1 wish for a few years, this singles concept got my hopes up a little but I’m afraid that the only date that’s close to me (Morbegno) will come too soon, when they’re not yet into the new “mode” completely. I’m convinced they’ll unearth it sooner or later though.
Myself, I’m wishing for just one thing, and it’s a well. They play that, and I go home happy. (Just kidding, if I manage to see them I’m sure I’ll be happy in any case.)
Thanks! For the next show in Italy they have the same time slot so I guess it’s gonna be similar, and I think that’s actually a pretty good set time for a festival appearence. I’m sure they’ll be back to the longer format (and longer songs) for the next “proper” tour, I still hope to catch NOX and Chariot sooner or later.
So, anyone knows how long was the concert?
To me the setlist looks more like a continuation of the last tour than the singles concept they announced, do you think it’s going to be similar in Morbegno in a few weeks? They’re also playing in Cagliari in early September.

Well I guess they listened to my request for dates in Northern Italy, hard to get more northern (?) than that :D I hope I can make it, I’m spoiled by the fact that I live so close to Milan (but on the wrong side, in this case).
Wow, that’s an unexpected place for a MP gig. Have they ever been that far south in Europe?
Myself, I hope this means more dates in northern Italy are forthcoming, since for me Erfurt is actually closer lol (9h drive vs 12)Have you e-mailed the mods on Dime to ask for the promotion of your account? It is mandatory before you can start downloading there.
Currently at 0.41, totally feel what you’re saying. I got back into Dime years ago (I had an even older account which I think got deleted for inactivity) and just to get a decent ratio to start I had to upload a couple of old Bowie shows I got from somewhere else. I think that part of the problem is that most recent torrents are overseeded, often by people with very large bandwidth, so it’s very hard to build up a decent ratio, even more so if you’re mostly interested in less famous artists (myself, I’m into Neil Young as well, but that hasn’t helped me very much).
Unfortunately Bent was not feeling too well, he kept coughing and had little voice, which I suppose explains the string of Snah songs and the absence of songs where he would have to strain his voice too much or for too long (except perhaps for Nothing to Say and Plan). Still, it was not a *bad* night by any means, and I’m very grateful to him for giving his best nonetheless. My highlights were the most “spacey” moments: Manmower, Mona Lisa, Hogwash and most of all a magnificent, mighty Alchemyst. Given the feel of the night, Chariot would’ve been perfect, a pity they didn’t bring it to Italy (same goes for Spiral in the acoustic set).
In my opinion Santeria is way better than the Live Club in Trezzo for them, it has a much more intimate feel and the sound is definitely better in the front rows. I hope it becomes their venue of choice in Milan. It was such a fun night! The boys seemed in really good mood and indeed they rocked pretty hard! Bent even introduced P-Tzar as “some dark heavy metal” or something like that. :D Quite possibly the best “Tower” I’ve ever heard, there was some really nice jamming in there. Maybe Ingvald is not as “showy” and technical as Tomas was (to be clear, I loved Tomas’ drumming), but he really seems to “feel” the songs and was really into it. I hope he stays long!
I’m glad they changed venue in Milan, they played amazing shows in Trezzo but that venue was too big and impersonal for them. Santeria’s nice, I’ve seen some pretty good shows there (Sleep, Ride, Madrugada, Built to Spill…)
No, I really don't think that any part of NOX was played, certainly not before Lacuna, and it's not on the setlist. Perhaps you're thinking of Running with Scissors?
I was at this one and Trezzo. Torino was definitely much much better in terms of sound quality (or maybe it's just that everything sounds great after Trezzo? haha) but I was a bit disappointed in the setlist, especially after the amazing one they played in Trezzo. Also, in Torino they played no more than 2 hours, perhaps a couple of minutes less than that. I'm sad that I didn't get to hear NOX (nor United Debased, nor Transmutation, which imho are the 2 standout tracks on KOO), and yesterday was a bit too focused on the 2016-2019 period, which is great but those are all songs which I've seen live a lot. On the plus side, Starhammer was amazing (first time for me with Tomas), I was happy to hear Plan #1 after 12 years, and a show that ends in Vortex Surfer cannot be a bad one, right?
Regarding the note on the setlist after VS, it means "or something similar", right? Does something similar to VS really exist?
