For those interested in getting a taste of the 'ballet', if you haven't seen them already, there's a few videos available on YouTube (one of them copied onto Motorpsychodelicclips) that were recorded at one of last summer's festival appearances at which the piece was played.
Do not watch these videos if you prefer not to hear possible material from the 'ballet' before getting the album.
I guess the long piece is the collaboration with Kvernberg and Horntveth, written for the Gullvag celebration. I've been wondering what would happen to that.
Can't wait
@ supernaut – Fair enough. I was just tickled by the different reactions.
Quote:I was very impressed by LoreIn a little exchanage of emails among a regular group of gig-going friends today, one of them said of Lore: "[It] is their weakest more straight forward stuff, heard it all before, if you know what I mean" Meanwhile, another said "I've got 'Lore' but haven't played it for ages – playing it now and it's hitting the spot." I will most certainly get to it soon.
So I finally got around to listening to Elder's Omens and the Gold & Silver Sessions, and was impressed enough to promptly buy both. After I've immersed myself in these two a little more, I'll start moving through their back catalogue.
@bionaut – like you, I'm a Bandcamp fan. The only vinyl records I own (by any band) are MP's En Konsert, RW3, RW5 and Terje Brekkstad. And I don't plan on buying a record player and getting back into collecting vinyl. I understand and respect all the reasons why people prefer vinyl, but at this stage, I'm not going back to buying it unless there is a specific album put out that I can't get any other way, and as long as it prefereably includes a CD or a free download with it.
So I'm very happy about this Light Fantastic release on Bandcamp and hope the band decides to put Child of the Future, The Motorpnakotic Fragments and HBM vol. 2 on there too
although I also understand and respect all the arguments by fans and the band for why they might prefer not to.
PS: I have managed to acquire all the albums mentioned by unofficial means – but what I would like is an opportunity to get them through official means and in the process give the band money for them. I did this as soon as I became aware that Light Fantastic was up on Bandcamp.
@Great King Rat – I knew about this distinction but I personally never apply it because I always forget about it. I imagine the majority of native English speakers (I am one) have no idea about it. Anyway, that source came from a quick Google search "compare to vs compare with" which threw up this link:
As I said, I was just being a smartass because of the discussion of whether comparisons should be made or not. It was meant in jest (hence the winking smiley). I had no intention to make anybody look bad, or myself look good. The standard of English on display on the forum is outstanding in my humble opinion. And English people like myself should be the last to point fingers, given most of us speak/read/write only one language (and that generally poorly).
Rather than comparing it to, how about comparing it with?
"To compare to is to point out or imply resemblances between objects regarded as essentially of a different order; to compare with is mainly to point out differences between objects regarded as essentially of the same order."
Sorry – just being a smartass about a grammatical point I always get wrong.

Just been listening to Swedish outfit hooffoot the last couple of days. Instrumental jazzy prog – bordering on fusion in places.
@kjesso – When Harstad was interviewed in the Folk Fest video, I noticed on his bookshelf a copy of Infinite Jest by David Foster Wallace. That's another mammoth book, but one I would definitely recommend, though it's very hard going in places.
