I was just gifted a few MP items for my birthday, one of which was the Engllish translation of the Blissard book by Johan Harstad. I just started it. After a couple of pages it seemed to me that Harstad has a style similar to David Foster Wallace, in particular with all the notes and notes to notes. Interestingly last week I also noticed, in the film of the making of En Konsert For Folk Flest, a copy of Wallace's brilliant Infinite Jest on the bookshelf behind the author of the Manifest on which the Konsert piece draws. It wasn't until I came to write this post that I realised it was also Harstad who wrote the Manifest!
I'm reviving this thread because I just ordred the album. I don't have a vinyl record player, but I see there's a CD and DVD included, so no problem there. Can't wait to get my hands on this – looks like a lovely boxset. Having already heard the album I know what to expect in that regard, and personally I think it's absolutely sublime. Definitely one of their best, IMHO.
While listening to Let Them Eat Cake, in just the right altered state last night, I noticed another musical reference. The opening of Whip That Ghost makes musical reference to the opening of the(short version of the) brilliant Billy Cobham instrumental Stratus.

This is the quote that sums it up for me. I fell in love and, yes, MP are almost all my favourite bands in a band.

Flights booked for a trip to Amsterdam with my wife (15-18 April), following which she will return home and I will head on to Alkmaar for the show on the 18th and then Roadburn, returning home on the 23rd. Can't wait. Hoping to meet up with some of you.
My wish came true – a date in Holland before Roadburn! Have ticket, will travel. Would it be too much to hope for another on the 23rd? :lol:

Well, I'll be at Roadburn and I'm trying to find a way to go to Burg Herzberg. But I'm hoping for a UK appearance at some point and/or maybe a date in Holland before or after Roadburn.
