I felt bad my review sounded negative, so I just wanted to make it clear how great I thought it was despite my complaints, and what a privilege it was to see the band up close like that, everyone seemed to really be enjoying themselves. I only have one show with Järmyr to compare with but I too think this line-up is amazing.
I feel stupid complaining about a few reocurring songs when most bands will just play the same thing over and over every night.

The sound was really good and I thought the band was tight except perhaps during Balthazaar. There were a few too many songs I would have prefered not to hear again today, Manmower and The Tower especially. Glad to finally see them do Gullible’s Travails, but I don’t think it translated as well live as most of their songs do. Would still say it was a great gig today, but I liked the show yesterday much better for the setlist.
Incredibly happy with this show. Only my 4th time seeing Motorpsycho and most of the songs I hadn’t heard before. Really chuffed to hear Whip that ghost and that run of songs from Whole Lotta Dianna to the the end were fantastic.

I’m going to Bergen for the Landmark shows too. I’ve been to Oslo several times but never in Bergen. Shame about the rain which probably means little exploring, but I’m looking forward to the shows!
Oh, that sounds very promising. Thank you! I’ll try to get tickets!
Ah that’s a always shame when there’s a low turnout. Tends to be that way when a band I _really_ want to see stops by here in Gothenburg, usually only half full at best. Even Motorpsycho when they played here last time
Next time I see the band I want to try to attend two consecutive gigs. I’m toying with the idea of heading over to see them in Bergen, I’ve never been there. Is the Landmark venue any good?
Appears to be a single, or perhaps an album, called Fanny Again, Or. Is that supposed to be a play on Love’s Alone Again Or?
Thanks for the feedback on the improved sound quality!
I stupidly bought the new vinyl from bandcamp, wanting a digital copy too. Had I bought from the MP store I could’ve gotten the cd as well for almost the same price it seems.
It was only a few months ago since I bought the old version of CotF, I haven’t gotten around to listening yet. Going by the Ozzylot preview track on bandcamp, does this new remaster really sound that much better?
June 23, 2025 at 21:31 in reply to: A critical reappraisal of Phanerothyme (not that it needs it!) #44658Thanks! I can definetely hear bits and pieces both in Whipping Post and Jessica. I should perhaps leave digging any further not to lessen the value of Whip that ghost for me ;-)
June 21, 2025 at 17:45 in reply to: A critical reappraisal of Phanerothyme (not that it needs it!) #44652I’m a fairly new to Motorpsycho, having listened occasionally since Kingdom of Oblivion, and obsessing since the last year or so. I’m working my way through all the albums and the first time I heard Phanerothyme it left an incredibly negative impression due to the terrible twee of ‘When you’re dead’ closing the album. When I heard it again later on I started realising how good the rest of the tracks were. Now I think it’s one of the most enjoyable, aside from WYD which is still terrible.
Regarding Go to california and Whip that ghost being pastiches, I’m curious what WTG is a pastiche of, I _love_ that tune!
It’s been fun to see how much the setlist has changed during the tour. Well, not so fun because the set from Copenhagen, the one show I went to, has probably been the least interesting so far :-). Now I see why many of you folks go to see them multiple times on a tour. Maybe next time!
This was my third show and the first full length, the others being slightly shorter festival sets. Still working my way through their discography so was not familiar with The Alchemyst. Would have loved to see the set from Oslo!
I enjoyed it but found the setlist perhaps a bit dull. Sounded a bit sloppy but picked up towards the end. Elysium, Lucifer and Core Memory highlights for me.
