Did they sell merch at this gig?
Wow. This is a tough one.
I’m having huge problems pinpointing a worst album, but I’ll go for 8 Soothing Songs, if you count that as a proper album.
As for overrated, I don’t know, the whole band is so vastly underrated that it’s almost impossible to pick. You can’t choose which kid you love less. I really have no idea.
OT:
I have no problems with the pop-era albums really. It’s just another style of the psycho and they do make some pretty crafty pop songs. If nothing else, they can be used to convert non-psychonauts, and then you just push them further into true Motorpsychedelic territory later. True, the vocals have never been their strongest side, but the melodies and arrangements make up for that, I think.
Cool, Drammenboy!
Sideway Spiral 4, awesome.
Mr. Victim is on the Child of the Future tracklist, but Ozzylot isn’t, I guess that one’s from the other new album? Sounds like a nickname though, not a real song name.
@stalemate: I don’t know. Where should you draw the line if not at total unwillingness? You sculpture your art according to the beliefs and standards of other people, I don’t know. It’s a debate with no short, correct answer I guess. I see your points as well, however
Artists should not compromise their output for anything, including their fans. To compromise is to bend over (however slightly) to someone elses wish/demands, and that is the path to easy listening pop shit.
I’m so incredibly grateful that Motorpsycho completely refuses to even glance in that direction, let alone thread the path of mediocrity and adapting to (more or less) popular demand.
You gotta hang on to the trip you’re on!
Well, I guess the logo is pretty timeless really. Just use a plain logo and maybe the band name? Of course, funkier colours.
Agree about Bent the mood killer, but meh. Forgot about Year Zero! And I thought it maybe was Sideway Spiral, but I didn’t recognize it
Will we get a new one?
Hypnotizing, intense. And one poppy.
Also: Good show! The new songs are pretty awesome, LLM was on fire and the Sunship jam at the end was out of this world.
Before the show Bent and Snah jammed along with Dazed and Confused that played in the venue.
Bent got pissed about someone throwing something on stage and threatened to cancel the show if it happened again, luckily it didn’t.
And no merch! I had a wad of cash ready to spend, but no merch!
@otherdemon: Could very well be. There was one with a pretty simplistic, fast bass riff that kept repeating. Some polyrhythming I think as well
Cool find!
Oh shit, Rock Furore was two years ago?!
@Elvin: Yep!
I saw Gebhardt and the norwegian rock project band (can’t remember the name) at Mono in 2008(?), they played the nynorsk version of The Nerve Tattoo there as well.
It was pretty cool
@GBD: Oh man, I so agree.. We had to leave after an hour, it was too much.
