April 22, 2009 at 07:29 #11632Two new songs out on vinyl in June? I’m thinking an EP here, and it’s about time. They haven’t released one since the Serpentine EP in 2002…
How did those new songs sound? Heavy, trippy, psychedelic or maybe all three?
April 22, 2009 at 08:10 #11633good news!!!
April 22, 2009 at 12:03 #11634New tracks sound mostly like the little lucid moments´ ones. heavy, trippy and psychedelic; crunchy with long noisy parts, recognizable blues licks and poppy choruses.
The concert was very good but also very noisy (as the whole tour). highlights were “all is loneliness” (never heard it live before), year zero and greener. kenneth ist SO brilliant!
April 22, 2009 at 12:15 #11635Dear Psychonauts,
it was nice to see them in a good shape and having fun. The venue was probably half full which means around 400 people.
According to the setlist the two new songs are titeled “Satan… something” (played as 2nd song) and “Riding the Tiger” (as I remember sond no 6). I remember them as quite straight rock with interesting riffs.
The sound sucked until Taifun. Never had such a bad sound on a MP show. Far too loud and very blurry. No quiet or space songs, probably because they prepared for the Roadburn show. I missed songs like Serpentine, Upstairs, Bilndfolded, Landslide,… which I enjoyed last year a lot. As you see, they played the entire LLM Album, which surprised me a bit.
Somewhere in the end there was a terrible sound and we figured out that a speaker crashed probably in that moment. The show lastet around 2,5 hours. No difference between written setlist and the songs they finally played.
This is what I remember.
See you hopefully this year on the road
April 22, 2009 at 21:16 #11636I agree with Binauralist.
For me this was not a very good motorpsycho gig.
The new songs, specialy satan…? sounds interesting.
during the hole gig were to less variety and to less surprises.
Don’t understand me. I Think it was’t a bad gig
but for me it was’nt a realy good mp gig.
anyway, have fun @ roadburn
June 17, 2009 at 17:27 #11637Did they sell merch at this gig?
June 18, 2009 at 00:56 #11638Yes, they did. But not as much as usual. They had 2 or 3 T-Shirts and the DJ Bag. That’s all. NO Records.
June 18, 2009 at 14:48 #11639Weird. They had no merch at the Drammen gig. Hopefully they’ll round up some shirts and hoodies for the summer festival gigs..
