        08.05.2011:

Twenty years ago today in 1991 "Lobotomizer", Motorpsycho's debut, was released. Very little on it hinted on the great things this band would have in store in the future. However, this album has brought us "Hogwash" which has been (and still is) a mainstay in the band's live repertoire for the last twenty years. The album is the only proper release that features founding member Kjell Runar "Killer" Jenssen on drums.

Thanks! Wow, very cool clip! Apparently shot and published by the club. "Coalmine pony" features a juicy 'n' bluesy power trio jam and "Neanderthal" is being nailed. Deep riffs, doomy moments and lots of razor sharp riffage, just amazing! 18 minutes well worth watching.

Here is the third video of the three the club uploaded ("You lied"):

Thanks Tinnie for the Helsinki setlist! Did they play "The wheel" inside "Starhammer"?

In Tampere there was sort of a short intermezzo near the end of 'Hogwash' that they didn't play in Helsinki. Anyone has an idea what it could have been?

That must have been the familiar "Halleluwah"-quote. So they played a (rather rare) "Halleluwah"-less "Hogwash" in Helsinki and the regular "Hogwash > Halleluwah > Hogwash" the following night, which makes the Tampere 04.05. set look like this:

The Bombproof Roll & Beyond >

              Hogwash >

              Halleluwah >

              Hogwash >

(Btw, Pfnuesel and Makke75, do you remember hearing parts of "The wheel" in Tampere maybe? Then we could pretty much confirm that they indeed played "Starhammer").

My god — that is what I call a good Motorpsycho setlist! Played for 20 people in attendance? Wow. WE MUST GET THAT TAPE!

                    …and this blog says:

"Motorpsycho on levyiltä ”ihan ok”-tason bändi omissa kirjoissa, mutta kolmikon livekunnon tiesin rajuksi. Tuntiin mahtui yhden käden sormilla laskettu biisilista ja tolkuton määrä totaalista stoner rock jamien orgasmia. Aivan huikea keikka!"

(Motorpsycho CDs is "okay" level of the band's own books, but I knew the trio live a decent violent. Hours could fit on one hand the calculated track list and the number of senseless An absolute stoner rock jams orgasm. Absolutely amazing gig!)

I'm sorry, but i don't know their music that well, that i could tell you what they played. It was more jam to me than any special songs.

I've seen band once before and that was last june in sardinia. Have you heard of dunajam? really cool happening and very special. The gig was totally something else then, more like songs after one other.

Last night there was awkward few people. It may be because of roadburn and last weekend. Everyone was partying may day on saturday and there has been a lot of good gigs lately, because bands have been on tour before and after roadburn.

Motorpsycho's last gig in finland cancelled, thanks to poor ticket sale. We was just talking yesterday, that it is pity that the band is not very famous in finland. Don't know why.

Last night there was hardly any breaks and none of talking. All the people i was talking loved the whole show and many seem to be a bit surprised. Very, very nice indeed.

Thanks Pfnuesel! Having just 60 minutes to play I figured the band would play a powerhouse set, maybe one long segue even…?! Do you remember any other songs besides "Hogwash"? Will you also see tonight's show in Tampere?

That's "Halleluwah" by Can (off of their classic masterpiece "Tago Mago"). It has been a staple inside almost every "Hogwash" played since spring 2008. I am suprised this tease / quote has stayed with us for so long and so steadily. And while very cool, especially when Snah articulates the lyrics well, I am beginning to wish he would take the jam to another place again…
