Awesome!
There’s probably more fine tuning or similar suggestions, I will spend more time on it but don’t want to be a bore either.More low priority suggestions :
• How about a dark mode button in the top right?
• The “Motorpsycho Database” in the header with the same fade in/out color than the logo?
• When selecting a release, the release page could have the main illustration with a fade in effect, just for the cool vibe?So cool, thanks for these updates.
Having the discography makes it even more of a proper database. Lyrics and album details will be even greater. Thanks for the hard work put into this.I noted that pages often takes quite a while to load (using Vivaldi or Chrome).
On the releases page, it says “Discography” (instead of “releases”?) and “Albums” stays on display whatever filter is selected in the drop down list. I think this “Albums” header is not necessary.
On this page for instance, the same information is written three times (“2024 | Norway | 2xVinyl, LP, Compilation, Limited Edition, Turquoise Marbled”)
https://mpdb.no/album/becoming-motorpsycho-juvenilia-oddities-and-artefacts-from-the-vaults-1990-1993/
I guess it’s a category thing that could maybe be simplified? When doing a “song search”, any wrong entry will indicate “No albums match these filters.” instead of something like “nothing found” for instance.
On the release pages, there’s a category “Tracklist” then the header “Songs on this release”, which is redundant. I would just keep “tracklist” or even nothing at all if possible.
Same for “Liner notes”, the following header “Notes” is probably redundant.I’m browsing on a 16 inch laptop, and the site looks great, but obviously made for bigger resolutions.
For instance the padding between the track number and the title is IMO unnecessary big, same with the line spacing between tracks.
Sorry for the annoying list of comments, I’m all about readability and ergonomics.
This is great as it is and these comments can be completely overlooked.Damn I miss 35007 so much
What other information could also be interesting?
I remember the shows from the Black Hole Blank Canvas tour was with two other members that were there only for the specific first tour without permanent drummer. I remember reading somewhere that it was the 35007 drummer, but the dude didn’t look at all like the guy I saw a few years later drumming in Monomyth.
Since you’re on a hunt for lyrics, maybe available tabs and/or chords could be added slowly? (I don’t think there’s a lot of them available tho).
Nice to see the album artwork in the individual song pages.
Keep it up, it’s every day a bit more awesome.
Nice little gamification, especially that it isn’t too much in your face.
Also nice having an image preview of the community roadwork, it embellishes the homepage quite nicely.Since it’s the Motorpsycho database, why not have a database of songs (like here : https://gbvdb.com/tracks.asp) with lyrics as well? I guess that’s a lot of work and copy paste from available sources, but somehow what I would expect to find on a band database site.
Same with band members info, with dataviz like this
An option to share or have on display members stats would be cool.
Also the created roadworks could appear on the profile of community members? Some suggestions / debugging
• Many clips have the same date when looking for it, maybe it shows the upload date instead of the show date (“Lucifer” gets 3 times 12 of February)
• “use MP mask overlay” => “Use Roadwork template” ? The masking and overlay are terms not everyone is familiar with, even if it pretty straighforward.
• The “Preview sleeve” button could be maybe be aligned with the image URL field? To “validate” the URL instantly.
• Ember Tape, Glacier Drift, Oxide Echo, Signal Burst could maybe be nerd out a bit? With references to MP or Norway? Silly for sure, but it’s just to maximise the hardcore psychonaut aspect of it all.
“Snah is god”, “Trondheim chill”, “Space out”,…• Maybe the “Release builder” and “Create Roadwork” could be left for readability.
• On the created Roadwork page, the first right container has “ROADWORK” on top of the title. This might be redundant.
• On the artwork preview, the short description should maybe be a little smaller (since the description is anyway on the right), and it will avoid the overlay on the image.
• Maybe some sharing options on the creacted Roadwork pages?
• Wouldn’t it be more logical to have Roadworks (plural) in the menu and section title? “Psychonauts Roadworks” even?
Lastly, how about a donation button with a disclaimer about hosting and DNS costs?
Sorry for the specifications aspect of these, but it’s such a cool tool to have fun with. None of these suggestions and remarks are in any way mandatory. The experience is already beyond cool.
I mean, isn’t that a feature that any fan of bands with a bootlegging community would dream of?Mmm I just tried publishing one, and it did not show up. After clicking “publish roadwork, it went back to the homepage, and nothing was saved or published.
This is brilliant. Looks dope.
While trying to make a Roadwork of live versions of the 2025 Motorpsycho album, I noticed the field to choose the clip isn’t showing some results. “Lucifer” has one entry, “Laird Of Haimley” has zero, etc.
Aslo, run time is indicated as such :
Runtime
01:23
Maybe ’01h23″‘would make more sense?I would recommend at some point posting a new dedicated thread on this forum to inform the community about this Roadwork feature, maybe on other socials (I don’t follow them, dunno if facebook is still a thing for the Psychonauts). This is too good not to be promoted widely. Thanks again for doing this.

Good call on the link to external image.
Do you think an image masking that fits the official Roadwork artwork would be possible?
Kind of the ones that – I believe – Francesco is doing when uploading the recordings on the internet archive?
https://archive.org/details/mp2023-09-16The masking would be applied to the image linked, so it would be more visually consistent.
Also if the linked image somehow breaks, the masking can simply be applied to the selected banner color, it will still look cool and consistent.
Def not necessary
Sorry for dropping suggestions like that, I know it’s a lot of work but it’s fun seeing them being completed!
Holy shit that was fast! Will test it out from the airport today!
Good call on limiting to 3 roadworks per user, it will ensure some careful consideration in building these playlists.Adding artwork isn’t that necessary indeed, especially if we can have a generic template adding the title of our own roadworks.
For Discogs, that may seem redundant for our own collection, but the GBVdb.com for instance is mostly focused on the extended discography of Guided By voices more than the shows. It would make sense to me to have a MPdb that all the bands data, including their releases. Definitely not a priority tho.
The community roadworks would be already quite a lot of fun.-

The current version of the MPDB site is pretty complete, and awesome in many ways. Love the maps, the footprint and such an easy access to clips and recordings.
Brilliant all around. Thanks again for allowing this to exist in such a cool format and for taking into consideration the feedback of the community. There are some other things that could be considered like gamification of show attendance or activity on the forum, etc, but I don’t think it’s very much the vibe between psychonauts.
Maybe one fun thing : create your own “Roadwork”, where we can create playlist of selected live songs from the available recording we think are at the Roadwork level, and make our own little online bootleg. “Psychonaut Roadwork”, sorta. With an option to upload our own artwork for it.
It could allow the creation of fun concepts, like for instance 10 chronological live versions of “Mountain” over the span of 20 years to see how much it evolved through the years, or something like covers only playlist, or “best of live Reine”, rarest live songs, etc.
Just thinking out loud, hoping this makes sense.Edit : also, why not adding a discography section? Lifting up most of the data from Discogs but with maybe higher resolution images? And an option to also indicate what we have in our collection (with even more data, like % of LP own, % of 7″, etc)

I think the map could be right under the first container, since it is a cool visual overview.
The Motorpsycho footprint background color is maybe too similar to the Dig Deper section, it would benefit from being more prominent.
Maybe as tabs? One tab for the map, one for the footprint?I noted this while quickly browsing :
Personal footprint
Most Visited Country
belgium <—- no caps in the countryTours page
Link to https://mpdb.no/stats/tour/?tour=2025 gets a 404This is so cool, I’ve been reading setlists of shows I forgot I attended thanks to adding them to my stats.
For instance this show, which was an absurdly good and fun show :
This is brilliant. Can’t wait to use this feature.
Congrats on adding the map for the tours, it’s such a cool visual gimmick.
Will there also be a map on the personal stats like a fitness tracker? So I can sell my touring attendance to my wife as personal exercice. Thanks for all the great work.
