I went to the pre-playing of the album at Moskus on Saturday. Sounded great, inspired in equal parts by Queens of the Stone Age and 70's AC/DC if you ask me.
Since I didn't check this site frequently enough yesterday, I am still looking for tix to tonight's gig, pending on my train to Trondheim not being delayed. I can be reached at bjholmem[at]gmail[dått}com
Surprisingly, I'll be back in Trondheim tomorrow night, just in time for the concert. Anyone got a spare ticket?
To me, the sound was actually better than at the opera. Possibly because I was sitting in the balcony instead of row 5. I thought the sound was more dynamic, and the band not quite so loud. You could actually hear the orchestra and horns in the louder parts.
To me it seemed they had some technical difficulties, Bent went back to have his bass looked at several times. And the soli were better at the opera, both Snah's and Ola Kvernberg's. All in all I enjoyed both the opera and the Olavshallen shows immensely.
Not as amazing as it should be IMO. The sound was not good a lot of the time, I often had trouble hearing the organ sounds. Having become used to Bent and Snah singing so well on the album, the live vocals were disappointing. Also the sound let the vocals down. But it was of course interesting to hear the band interpret the songs in a live setting, and there were a few grand moments. Hopefully it will be better tomorrow, when things have "settled" a bit.
In my opinion the encores were better than the main set.
Some points concerning the audience: A few were very talkative. I saw a group being chucked out from the gallery because they were talking very loudly. Good. But there were also others who didn't respect the performing artists and were talking very loudly, fortunately they seemed to go away after a while. It seemed that quite a few left during the set, possibly a too advanced set for some. It made the experience better for the rest of us, as there was considerably less talking towards the end.
