Just from the setlist this appears to me the most diverse/psychedelic show so far this year. But of course I wasn’t there – won’t make it to Holland or Belgium either, just Cologne/Freiburg, but I digress. Lady May, Pacific Sonata, Pilgrim, Mountain, Neotzar – I would be happy to get this set in Cologne or Freiburg. Magpie welcome as well. Generally though I agree – those many rather short songs from the last few years sound rather similar.

Balthazaar, Neotzar, Psychotzar – somehow I recognise the Patterns there within ;-)

Yep – Shame, Ingvald cannot play the tour. His drumming will be missed.
Besides I still have mixed feelings with the album. Though I’m quite happy with it, imho it still lacks the kind of juvenile enthusiasm MP used to have in the old days – or the gravitas and majesty of the Gullvag trilogy. I know it is quite unrealistic to expect these from an elderly rock duo with no regular drummer, though ;-). So for the circumstances being we probably get the best possible.
Btw.: The last few seconds of “Neotzar” remind me a lot of that little acoustic tune at the end of Black Sabbath’s “Heaven and Hell” (the song, studio version).

I always knew Genesis were a pompous bunch of lazy sods – two people is enough for that kind of music ;-)

That would be the BAD TASTE US Tour then? (Just for the Love of Kiss – but sometimes bad taste happens to be just what you need, especially when you’re a teenager).
Should be pretty soon though – before US Immigration gets a grip on those Psycho- & Neotzar lyrics ;-)

When did Bent last play in front of 1500? Must have been the summer festivals – regular MP shows muster around 500-600 at best. Cozy affairs though – I love it ;-)

Arthur Brown with Hawkwind around 2003That would bring in elements of Arthur Brown (around 2003) ;-)

As the comparisons grow more and more esoteric I’d like to throw in that the Neotzar introduction strikes some memories of early/middle Kate Bush for me. Wonder who’s next in the big Motorpsychedelic stew ;-)

@ Ratmaus: As always, my alledged cleverness is fuelled by at least 50% ignorance – couln’t relate to at least half of your proposals ;-)

@ Ratmaus: Ever listened to “Master of the Universe”?
After Lemmy gone – who but Bent on bass might deserve that title?

@ otherdemon: Second almost every word – only would add Bed of Roses.

With so many tracks on the album I would like to hear live – adding to the already massive MP canon – it gets more and more imperative to visit several MP concerts in a row. The other solution – 4 hr plus concerts – doesn’t seem practicable for band or audience either. I guess they’re only recording so many good tracks each year to make multiple concert attendance unavoidable…

                              – musiknyheter review –
Hehe – somebody who missed out The Tower, The Crucible, All Is One and Ancient Astronauts cannot write a relevant MP review for me. Though I share some of this guys misgivings regarding the vocals, I’m fully opposed on his diatribe against rock clichés – I love the way MP play with these ;-)

I have prescribed myself a slow approach – no firsthand damnation or praise this time. Have only listened to the first pieces right now. First impressions: some NEU! leanings on Lucifer, especially SNAH’s solo appears to follow the more melodic tracks of Rothers later works. Nice track, only once again the vocals are not my cup of tea at first listen. Probably Bent could channel a younger self – or engage Jon Anderson right away?

Much fun on “Laird of Heimly” from the start – Motor”friends” for you! I love these takes on classic pieces – for me that is part of the postmodern brilliance of latter day Motorpsycho!

With the prices exploding all over Europe through the distribution channels I think MP should consider distributing via Stickman again. If Stickman are prepared to organise distribution – as they do for several other artists or single albums – the moral argument (only half the money for them) is not relevant any more imho. The present mode obviously only leads to immoral prices for fans – and discourages new customers.
Personally I rather wait for another few months and get the – hopefully black – vinyl then at the MP gig in my hometown.
