What is the history of the tribal logo and is there any meaning behind it?
I’m sure it would make a great tattoo (some of you probably have this already)

In ancient times, hundreds of years before the dawn of history, Bent got that tattoo on his right forearm. My guess is that’s where it started – except, of course, I have no idea why he got it or who designed it in the first place.

I remember reading a shoutout to the original designer of the logo on the backside of one of the 10″ EPs if I’m correct?

Indeed, it was The Other Fool EP: “The Motorpsycho- “tattoo-logo” was designed by Theo Jak a long time ago. Credit is way overdue, but better late than never. (Get in touch, man!)”

Though it is a substantial part of public MP pattern recognition and a nice symbol if you release it from the tattoo context, the tribal is, like any tattoo – just “Unterschichtenmalerei” in the end. The pun just works in German, sorry. Something like “lower level painting” adressing both technique and target group. I’m not too fond of tattoos – except probably those on Bents arm, moving while he’s playing bass. Working in a Rock’n’Roll context, but as a mass phenomenon? No thanks…

Theo Jak seems to be Stockholm-based – he’s listed as one of the tattooers here: https://infamousstudio.com/

@Johnny: These days, there is a large category of middle-aged, British women (what shall we say about them?) who have a tattoo not unlike this one, and it is usually in the small of the back…

… only that the middle-aged “Arschgeweih” isn’t that smooth looking anymore, and the back’s usually much bigger ;-)

Nowadays kids have their favourite dream home idyl tattooed on their necks. Jeez – in every dream home a heartache…

OK, boomers. Why don’t you just keep it to yourself?

let the “kids” (who’s that? everyone younger than 50?) have their tattoos where ever they want…

You can wear your tattoos where you want – like your clothing or no clothing or whatever – but you can’t avoid other people judging and evaluating cultural phenomena, whether this is clever or not. You’re free to be, but always subject to closest scrutiny by others. Such is life!
                            (Speaks the central scrutinizer…)

old white men judging “the kids”, “middle aged women” and “lower class people” by their tattoos.

                              sounds pleasant!

Those poor victims! Thank God you’ve got their backs! Ha, ha! (It’s a joke.)

I only wondered who would be first out of the traps on that one! You win the prize!

Perhaps you could correct me? Have you seen, in the UK, many people in the following categories sporting this sort of tattoo:

                                (a) men?
                                (b) young women?
                                (c) old women?

I can tell you that the answer is no in all three cases, which only leaves two categories: middle aged women and, of course, trans, and I regret that I am unable to report on the latter.

Must the simple statement of an observable fact lead its author to be assumed to be, and, it would seem, condemned, as ‘old’ and ‘white’?

                                Interesting.

I’ve meet Johnny in person and read enough of your bullshit here to know who I am talking to.

And interesting you bring up the trans topic… maybe a link to covid and the deep state, too?
