Ten years ago in this day in 2001 the STICKMAN FESTIVAL took place at Große Freiheit in Hamburg (GER) featuring Motorpsycho, The Soundtrack Of Our Lives (TSOOL), 35007, Fireside, Isolation Years and HGH. Many fans had traveled to attend what felt like a family gathering back then.
October 14, 2011 at 15:55 #19223Somebody mentioned that Bremen'08 got filmed.
Maybe he's referring to Brussels Botanique and AB concert, both can be found on vimeo.

Twenty years ago on this day in 1991 Motorpsycho played their first ever show outside of Norway! This concert — the band's 30th show up to that point — took place at Barbue in Copenhagen and was the first date of a mini-tour of Denmark that also included shows in Aalborg and Ã…rhus. In Copenhagen the band played a fantastic and heavy set highlighted by a five minute punk version of "Mountain" as well as the concert debuts of "Lake Innersfree" and "Into The Sun"! The former is a prog-monster which was only performed a total of five times. The middle jam of this piece was later integrated into "Mountain". A studio version of "Lake Innersfree" cut in 1994 was released on the "Timothy Monster" reissue. "Into the sun" however would turn into a genuine MP classic which would not leave the setlist rotation up to this day. Fortunately this sparsely attended night in Copenhagen was captured to tape providing us with a valuable historic document: This recording is the third earliest concert tape of Motorpsycho available (preceded only by Trondheim 29.04.1990 and Bergen 24.10.1991).

Twenty years ago on this day in 1992 MOTORPSYCHO played their first concert of the year at Trudvang in Stjørdal in Norway. This concert — the band's 34th proper concert performance up to that point and the first of 22 total shows in 1992 — was captured on tape from the soundboard and leaked into fan circles at a very early stage so that it was well represented in collector's list already in the second half of the 1990s. This is the third-earliest "bootleg"-recording of the band live in concert and the only recording of a full 1992 show! In this show Motorpsycho played "Lighthouse girl" for the second to last time before it was performed for the last time two months later in Tromsø (the song was however resurrected for a one-off performance in Stavanger on 18.12.2010). Also featured was the common early number "Strange days", a predecessor of "Demon box".

Fifteen years ago on this day in 1997 Motorpsycho performed a concert at Rockefeller in Oslo (NOR). This concert which occurred halfway into the Norwegian leg of the "Angels and Daemons"-tour was broadcast on NRK, the Norwegian public radio. Very soon a recording of the radio broadcast became the most widely distributed and most widely spread unofficial live recording by the band. And rightly so because the performance that had been captured by NRK can be considered classic in every way. Beginning with a brilliant take on "S.T.G." feat. Deathprod on noise-gadgets (who also played a support set to open the evening) the concert also featured a spooky space rendition of "Un Chien d'Espace". Later in the set we find the combo "Nothing to Say -> Mountain" which was performed a lot during the 1996/97 tours but there is no recorded version that surpasses this one. The set is of course being topped off with an epic take of the "The Golden Core". If the band ever decided to dig into the archives and issue classic shows as "Roadworks"-series, "Rockefeller '97" would certainly be THE definite contender!

March 14, 2012 at 14:06 #19228Sounds amazing. Any chance that this recording might resurface again on one of the popular sites?
Please? :begging:
March 14, 2012 at 16:24 #19229Yes, Rockefeller March 97 was a good one. The report I wrote for G-35 (published here: http://motorpsycho.fix.no/havetravel/reports/reports/rocke97.htm ) certainly suggests I was pleased. (Chas O. -> Kjesso)
March 14, 2012 at 18:23 #19230ah fond memories. mostly of that guitar solo /moog build up in Nothing To Say. one of the first times the band floored me with amazement.
March 25, 2012 at 20:31 #19231It's Sgt. Pepper Time:
It was twenty years ago today that I saw (and heard) Motorpsycho for the first time. Together with two flatmates I went to their show at Hulen, Bergen. There were around fifty in the audience at the start of the concert, around half of us stayed to the end. My two flatmates didn't enjoy it too much, but I was hooked. Over the years I've been to around forty MP-shows, and even if their pop trilogy bored me, and even if I lived for nine years in Volda, where they never played during those years, and from where it was always a bit of distance to the places they actually did play, and even if becoming a dad seven years ago made it even harder to go see them, they are still my favourite band.
I don't go to shows too often these days, but I now live in Voss, which makes it slightly easier to see Motorpsycho and other bands. I will continue to do so, even if the show in Bergen was a rather mixed experience, as I've mentioned in the Bergen thread.

10 years ago on this day in 2002 Motorpsycho played the second show of the year — the band's third-busiest concert year to date spawning 64 shows in total — at Docks in Hamburg (GER). At this show the band debuted "Serpentine", "One More Daemon" and "Circles". They also played "Ãœberwagner" which was premiered at the tour opening concert in Copenhagen the night before (09.04.2002). All these songs would appear on "It's A Love Cult" later in the year. This short spring tour comprised 13 concerts in DK, GER, NL, BE, LUX, FR, ESP and CH but Hamburg was the only concert of the tour that featured all four new songs! The Hamburg show was also remarkable for following story: The intro loop of "Giftland" sampled from "Timothy's monster" was playing over the house-PA while the doors opened and the crowd entered the venue. The loop would keep playing for well over an hour all the way to the beginning of the show. When the band entered the stage they seamlessly tore into "Giftland" (a huge setlist surprise at that time!) which made for a great moment of tension-release. This particular version of "Giftland" proved to be the tour's best featuring the great intro and majestic jams.

April 10, 2012 at 13:27 #19233Thank you very much to remind me to this special night, Alex.
It was an awesome concert.
April 11, 2012 at 11:42 #19234I was at the Hamburg gig, too, but I didn't think too much of it at that time. Reading the setlist now, I know why… Not my favourite collection of songs, although the Giftland beginning set a high mark.

15 years ago on this day in 1997 Motorpsycho commenced their annual European spring tour in support of "Angels And Daemons At Play" at Stengade in Copenhagen (DK)! At this show the band debuted "Vortex Surfer" (!!!) and "Superstooge". "Vortex Surfer" was performed at all but one of the 30 concerts of the tour (Bristol 03.06. missed out), usually in the first half of the show right in the middle of the set. At one occasion (Rock Am Ring 16.05.) they band even opened with it!
