Got it today and played the first record. Will try to shut my mouth until digesting the whole thing, though it is hard. Quite ironically the by far most quiet, silent song is the Lemmy one. Makes the old warthog laugh in his permanent LA domicile under the ground, I guess. Lyrics hardly comprensible, more whispered than sung, that one. Good choice though – makes the whole thing even creepier than the HW original. And MP managed to Sabbathize even this cover version, sending the Watcher astray with some motorpsychedelic Planet Caravan.
I will probably sum up my misgivings abouth the record and why it might turn out the weakest MP album since COTF – but only after several runs of both discs on my turntable tommorrow. And might still be rushing the affair – as we all know MP albums tend to grow with time. Btw. – I had the impression I really LISTENED to the Beginnings stuff for the first time last sunday…
April 15, 2021 at 06:36 #38080My first impression: Incredible sound; Lemmy sings from his grave; very british, and specifically Cambridge sound (Wolf People come to my mind); the lyrics are deep and to the point; dark and gloomy; well balanced between rock and folk; a great development in songwriting and sound and overall feel.
And now I go on the journey for the 2nd time. Will take weeks to discover that Motorpsychedelic trip in all its beauty…

April 15, 2021 at 09:42 #38081Enjoying this new compilation album (as in compilation of leftovers from previous recording sessions worked over) on repeat for 2 days now and I'd say it's well crafted music as expected, but nothing too shockingly new in the MP universe. But it's o.k. , something more like N.O.X. or their first work for modern-classical orchestra arriving already would surely be too much too soon. Just sitting back, enjoying the grooves and shouting out DEATH TO FALSE METAL ! now and again
April 15, 2021 at 10:35 #38082Really enjoying my first couple of spins. So much to discover in there.
I notice there are no song credits on the cd version – are they on the LP version? I'm always interested in the who wrote what of these songs.
April 15, 2021 at 11:24 #38083@the vistant, credits (+ 'written by') right here: https://www.discogs.com/Motorpsycho-Kingdom-Of-Oblivion/release/18293527
April 15, 2021 at 11:31 #38084… and yes: they are on the lp-version as well.
April 15, 2021 at 11:44 #38085Thanks, nicoot en TomTom! That's what I'm looking for!
April 15, 2021 at 12:55 #38086Just got the Vinyls today. Hey, listening to it. "Dreamkiller"…woah! This is mine all
through the game. Tusen takk or shall I say "Voll toll"… Marvellous, mindexpanding music. Sorry to say, the "All is one" had the long track that struck my mind, but…
Ok, better shut up and listen to maybe the best MP "studio" album I ever listen to.
Die Platte ist ganz grosse Kunst – écht. "Voll Geil" that matches it better.
April 15, 2021 at 14:39 #38087Volle Pulle doll isse!
April 15, 2021 at 15:16 #38088Hahaa, absolut. "The Hunt" and "The united debased" blew me away immediately first.
April 15, 2021 at 15:46 #38089Hello Psychonauts,
long time gone since my last contribution here (7 years ago, but still reading). My copies of the Vinyl and the CD arrived today. And this DLP is -as supernaut said a view posts ago- their best since The Death Defying Unicorn (which was and is (in my humple opinion) one of their masterpieces. But for sure this is a matter of taste and preferences.). Thanks to Supernauts great summary. Just want to add that Track 7 dedicated to the great and late Bert Jansch is a nice reminiscence to the work of this giant of folk and acoustic guitar. Reminds me on the feeling I have when I hear the lovely Whip that Ghost. Favourite Tracks: 2, 4, 6, whole Side C (my highlight of the album. Not only because of the Songs from the Wood touch of The Hunt) and 11.
All the best,
Andreas
April 15, 2021 at 17:21 #38090wow! this is very good stuff! sabbath galore!
April 15, 2021 at 19:19 #38091Really looking forward to hear Snah’s saxomophone skills on The Hunt!
April 15, 2021 at 19:32 #38092@Ratmaus: They are exactly what you expect them to be
April 15, 2021 at 20:42 #38093I'd like to point it out again: On "The Hunt", doesn't Bent remind you in voice and phrasing of a world famous singer/bassplayer? Who played in a trio and then started a solo career and their/his music is very different from anything Motorpsycho-related? It's so in-your-face to me but no one thinks so, too? 8O 8O 8O If intended by Bent, I find it half hilarious half brilliant.
