Hi ya,
just got back from a magnificent show at the Forum. Here’s the setlist:
YEAR Z.
OZZY
METAL IN HER EYE
SINFUL, WIND-BORNE
LIKE ALWAYS
ACE
BEDROOM EYES
SUNGRAVY
577
UEBER WAGNER
KILL SOME DAY (up to this one a pretty tight and straight forward gig,
virtually no jammin’ or noodlin’)
CORNUCOPIA (first big jam, they also played a cover song in the middle of this one but I didn’t recognize it…)
DIANA (great jam again, drum solo)
MANMOWER (Yeah! New on the list, started slowly and calmly but turned into an inferno)
SS4 (or 5? I don’t know… very loud and heavy in the end)
THE ALCHEMYST (far out, great jam, Snah and Bent on fire)
THE GOLDEN CORE
What a show! Nearly 2.5 hours of which the 4 encores made up almost one hour! The highlights for me were Sungravy, Manmower, Year Zero, 577 & TGC, although the new stuff sounded fantastic, too! The guys were in a good mood, very relaxed, and they obviously enjoyed themselves. The sound was crystal-clear, at least where I stood (just in front of the sound-man), but people who were in front of the stage told me the sound there was ok, too. It was quite loud, yet still pleasant; I didn’t even use my ear plugs which I normally do these days. Another very nice thing was the audience: there was hardly any chatting, even during the quiet parts. Strangely, the Forum wasn’t sold out which I actually quite liked because you had some space to stand and move.
You know, some people say MP’s not the same anymore and that they’ve lost some of their wit and magic compared to the ’90s, and I can see why: sometimes I also miss things, like an accoustic guitar for example, or Geb’s groovy style (although Kenneth does a hell of a job, no criticism intended!)… So, maybe they’re not the same anymore, but I DON`T CARE! THEY´RE STILL FUCKING AWESOME! This show was so powerful, energetic and mind-blowing towards the end, bloody hell! Probably the best I’ve seen in years! Can’t wait for Friday now, see you guys there, and hopefully in Deventer, too!
MP rulez! :MPD: Psychonauts rule! :smoke: Go see them, they kick your ass! :finger:
November 5, 2009 at 09:42 #14112Fantastic concert!! Really fucking great!!
Totally worth the drive.
The Golden Core. Live. Doesn’t get better than that.
(And now a bit of breaking news: The recording sounds fantastic! Will share at some point. )
November 5, 2009 at 09:50 #14113Thanks for the enthusiastic report & setlist, GKR; and Rune, too!
Tot vanavond!
(…if they adapt the playlist to the weather here right now you can expect Watersound & Before the Flood & the Sailboat Song…)

November 5, 2009 at 10:01 #14115oh gaaaawwwd, these setlists are FANTASTIC!
I demand ROADWORKS vol 4,”20th anniversary tour” 10LP/2DVD box from this tour
November 5, 2009 at 10:17 #14116it was ss3, not ss4.
I thought so and the setlist confirm that.
yes, a great gig, probaly the best german gig for me so far on this tour.
even it was a bit more a typacaly 20th anniversary setlist,
means more “hits” and less new stuff.
my highlight was manmower. great version.
and the alchemyst was much better as in hamburg, imho so it was another highlight.
and y.z.,diana, sungravy, ss3, g.c
at this tour, the encores generaly are totaly amazing

November 5, 2009 at 10:25 #14118yes, off course, how could I forget it?

November 5, 2009 at 11:56 #14120A 20th Anniversary Roadworks IV BluRay would be pretty much the best thing ever.
November 5, 2009 at 12:28 #14121It was awesome.
November 5, 2009 at 14:04 #14122Sinful, wind-borne. Like Always. Kill Some Day. Manmower. The Golden Core. Indeed, we need a Roadwork 20th anniversary.
