I also agree with “Be”, It’s a nice possibility to give to the buyer of the original vinyl version:

Vinyl version + a secret code to download the Mp3 version.

    This is the future.

Wow. I must be honest, yesterday I was not sure if I like it. But now, I get into it after the 3rd listen. yeah. great. And to be honest another time, it is especially “Mr. Victim”, and “Child of the Future” that I really really like. The melodies are constantly repeating in my mind. cool.

and what is with me?(and maybe some other psychonauts with the samer problem)?

        I’m still waiting,

although I ordered and paid it on the 21th of july.

since blissard i’ve heard every album on it’s release day.

but ok, I think I have to wait until monday,I can’t stand it.

if i would find a dl link, I would download it immediately, I’m afraid.

<edit> Oh, screw it. What I’ve heard so far sounds good. With a bitter side-taste. And the vinyl is destined for a mouldy forgottenness in my closet.

Sorry guys and gals, but I’d rather read some thoughts on the new album here…

          Still growing on me, btw…

Very very good Album. I like “Ozzylot” and “Mr. Victim” the most, “The waiting game” also great quiet tune. I like it a bit more direct and not so “jamy” I guess.

What else to say? “Blissard” still the best Album ;)

Production and Vinyl? Good. But not there where Sonic Youth already is with the last release “The Eternal” on 180 gr. – vinyl. My LP has some noises that shouldn’t be there, and is not quiet where it should be, played as I got it and even after proper cleaning. Just bad luck? My Equipment is definitly not the problem. I am owning a Mission Cyrus Amp and a Thorens recordplayer …

If you make a Vinyl only release, than it should be a good one concerning the quality of sound and soundcarrier (vinyl). I give you 6/10 for the audio quality of my copy, sorry (Sonic Youth “The Eternal” being the perfect 10).

Apart of that I like the production and the mix, Bents thick bass really carrying the whole thing. Great groove, bass and drums work very well together, good solos and vocals from Ryan.

Congratulation, nice work guys. Sonic Youth and you, you’re my all time favourites and you’re creating a great gap to the rest of it actually …

Got mine today, didn’t have time to give it a real listen but for the cover design: Great!

Really like that head with the cut-out eyes on the front and the inner sleeve. It’s kind of connected to LLM, with those spread out, multi-coloured triangles. The poster included is typical Motorpsycho / Kim. Maybe for the next time they could do a complete design change, like Sonic Youth did with Dirty where they just used photographs. That’d be cool!

Sound: Better than the last two! On what I’ve heard so far, typical Steve Albini drum sound (with that wonderful fat snare tone!) which is great. Still sometimes (for the first listen) they could stop using too many layers of guitar which gives it a little lack of transparency. I’d also say: listen to the new Sonic Youth, they did that great! Vocals are just beautiful, they fit in perfectly and are used in an interesting way. The bass is just big as it should be!

Review about the songs themselves coming soon… :)

I’m finally able to sit down and give this album the first spin. I’m on the last track on side 1, but I can already say that what I heard at Slottsfjellet was not a fluke…this is *by far!!!* the most inspired I’ve heard them since, dare I say it…Trust Us! BHBC was great, but now we have a *band* playing again!

I’m also pretty sure that the three new tracks they played at Slottsfjellet were the side 1 tracks. Whole Lotta Diana was definitely played, as I had just as huge a grin on my face as I do now, playing it on vinyl. OMG, this is just as raw as they were back in ’93-’94, no kidding! Barracuda is a joke of a record compared to this…and I like Barracuda.

I honestly never expected to like this album as much as it’s shaping up to. When I first heard they were only releasing it on vinyl my first thought was “That bad, huh?”, but the first side alone proves me wrong. I AM LOVING IT, in case you didn’t already understand that.

              More to follow…

Oh yeah, and…the track “Child of the Future” is indeed the same song as has been previously played live. More precisely, it was listed as “Insert Songtitle” when it was played during the fall tour of 2006, and possibly at other gigs. It was played faster back then, though.

Mr. Victim is probably my least favourite so far. The Waiting Game is a beautiful little oddity, which does indeed send the thoughts back to those Bent demos sprinkled throughout the albums and EPs in the 90s.

Child of the future is great! The guitarwork is excellent, playful and inspired. Bents bass is amezing. The production is maybe the best on an MP record so far. It

                a

ve heard Bents vocal performance as inspired as on COTF. The song material is good. I like the way they mix tight and intense rock music with melodic pop-orientated coruses and vocal lines, like on The Ozzylot, Riding the tiger and Child of the future.

Motorpsycho sounds fresh, catchy and on top of the world.

Ah, forget it…Mr. Victim is great too! In a Mantrick Muffin Stomp sort of way.

I can’t quite put my finger on it, but to my ears this is as close to the early days (i.e. early 90s) as they’ve sounded ever since then. And it’s not just the sound itself, there’s something about the songs and the *feel* (i.e. *urgent*) that sounds very, very fresh. It’s like they’ve reconnected with themselves. And in the process they’ve kind of gone back underground. Which is not a bad thing *at all*.

If any of the old fans who were scared away in the early 2000s haven’t yet come back, it’s about time they do.

They should have left the title track the way the played it in 2006 though. I always thought that was a cool little rocking song, but it’s a little sludgey now, at a lower tempo.

The Waiting Game OTOH fits in oh so nicely in that line of obscure home songs (Come on In, Feel, 7th Dream, Mad Sun etc).

Got the LP yesterday, but didn’t find time to listen until this morning.

I love it! It’s a great rocking album!

Has a great live feel to it. The tour’s gonna be great.

Satan is top dog for now. Also like the title track a lot. And Riding The Tiger. And The Waiting Game.

                      On my third listen now.

It’s been so long since I’ve sat down with an LP like this. I love it! Slowly studying the cover while listening to side A, then flipping it over to B. Ages, I tell ya!

(I miss the tattoo on the cover, though…)
